2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

He’s the sturdy cog in the engine room. Certain his teammates rate him very highly. With the right development and coaching he has a very, very bright future at Everton. One of the first names on the sheet at the minute for me. Every team needs a strong, athletic and technically able player in the middle of the park..on his current trajectory Tim is that piece in our jigsaw.

Players go from future captain to ‘I’ll drive him there’ every week in here… sad really

A bit of patience, perhaps
Well he undeniably has had his ups and downs along the way...was despairing at some of his performances.
What was really encouraging was how well him and Garner clicked defensively, and then the courage from this to attack and go for it.
His positioning and points of interaction were a clear step forward to previous.
He delivered under sustained pressure.

Now can he do it against more savvy attacks?
Brentford next.

This isn't new, the question has always been can he up his game in possession - but god he is so good at ball-winning it's crazy. It's hard to overstate how much of an outlier he is. Obviously it's clear he's amazing at it just watching him, but even comparing him to practically every other U23 midfielder in Europe he's miles clear.

Technically good on the ball, strong and for a big lad has a good turn of pace. Biggest issue is his positional awareness and decision making at times but this is normal for his level of experience. Will only improve but is getting better and looking more confident each game and is looking like a shrewd piece of business already. I like him.

Moyes was publicly telling him to be more positive on the ball and he's immediately started doing that, successfully, against a very good midfield. Really impressed.

That video shows something else, runners. none of this statue stuff, there were options, players were branching off occupying opposition and moving the set up on field. moving the ball on nice and easy and then stepping out and striding away from other players, it's a handy mix.
We started the game well yesterday. It's games where we start slow that need confronting (spurs newcastle).

Think having some good passing range next to him to move the ball up field quick helps him, that the ball stuck with Dibling meant options out of the arm wrestle in CM. Think this is an area Anderson has in his locker, more able passer over distance. Midfield is about blending just the right amount of ability with discipline and defensive work. It's handy having a few all rounders, considering our midfield is less than 20 league games old, (games played together), Ndiaye was LM, Grealish, KDH, in - mixed with Gana, Tim Iroegbunam and Garner. Give Moyes his due for settling midfield like he has.

I’ve been impressed by his development over the last month or so.
It’s great to see him have recovered from that horror show against Newcastle. His physicality and stamina are also improved. I always thought a lot of his early performances had a massive drop-off around the hour mark as he ran out of gas.
Agreed, he has shown great mental strength to bounce back so effectively and so quickly. Credit must be due to how Moyes managed subbing him at HT and whatever he has been saying to him since.
