That was personal and down to a falling out that they had obviously had. Another example of his belief in experience would be playing Alcaraz in the Kiev game.
That was the ultimate in hypocrisy. Plays Alcaraz because he was in the side that kept a clean sheet against Newcastle but drops Joel after 3 clean sheets on the spin. I'll never understand this persistence with TH.

Behave. Respected for picking up £50k a week under false pretences? If we did banners we should do a big one for him advertising cheap one way flights to the States.
No, not for what he's paid and not for his goalkeeping right now, but he's been here for nearly ten years and while he's never been in the
Neville Southall class, he hasn't always been crap. He'll be 37 in March and his reflexes and judgment have slowed.
It's not his fault that RM doesn't seem to have noticed.

So Martinez is pretty much deliberately throwing away points at this point... how can anyone still want him as manager...

Playing Joel in the cup may win us a trophy, but League cup trophies don't keep squads together and our squad is still going to be gutted at the end of this season and honestly, at this point, who can blame any player for leaving a club whose manager clearly has no intention of ever getting us higher than mid-table...
