Tim Howard

Name these keepers that are sitting on benches that would walk in? Begovic? [Poor language removed] this season. Romero and Valdez? Who knows. Ospina? Arsenal fans hate him. Vorm?

The grass is always greener with you lot. Tim Howard is a true Blue who has bled for this club and it is a shame that many fans do not appreciate it because they feel entitled to having a top 5 player in every position.

Perhaps. My overall, big picture frustration about this subject is that much like Martinez, Howard never had a chance with some of our fans. He was ALWAYS 'not good enough for United' and therefore not good enough for us for a large section of our fans, and they've ALWAYS (the vaults will show it) hammered Tim since he's been here.

Martinez is EXACTLY the same...he will never, ever be good enough for Everton with a portion of our fans.

It saddens and sickens me the level of contempt some Blues throw at folks in the team.

I liked Howard for first few seasons. I agree that there are people that will come out with an opinion and won't change it no matter what. It's like the opinion becomes thier identity and they won't let it go.

Most saves in a world cup game. Most saves in a europea league game. PFA first team goalie. The blame he gets on here is uncalled for. Sure he has made a mistake or 2 in the last 2 seasons but he has some great periods as well.

There is truly some anti US BS that many fans can't admit to.

That's just nonsense I'm afraid, mate.

I've never heard a bad word said about Landon Donovan, and that's because he played well while he was here.

Howard has been continually supported throughout rough patches in his Everton career, but this particular rough patch has lasted the best part of a year and a half. That's why he's getting stick, not because of his nationality.

Rightly or wrongly Alcaraz and Distin got just as much grief last season. Are you suggesting Evertonians have also got a vendetta against Paraguay and France?

And as for this... Why do they have to be sitting on benches?

Butland would be an upgrade from Howard, and a club our size could take him from Stoke no problem if we put the money on the table.

"Has bled for the club"! Behave it's not as though he gets paid a fortune every week. The odd sticky plaster wound is hardly a major sacrifice.

Facts are he's not very good. Simple as that.

Martinez should bring Robles in immediately and then flog Timmy in January. There must be some low quality league out there awash with cash waiting for a Hollywood name...

Why wouldn't we want a top 5 player in every position? I for one would like to see us win things again, like we did when I started going in the '80's. Bad glory hunter, me, I know.

Why wouldn't I?

He's been treated like crap by our fans for 8 years. It's a disgrace.

No he hasn't. Bin off this anti American nonsense.
He hasn't been treated like crap for 8 years, he's been decent for around 8 years and rubbish since the 2014 WC.

I do not feel we have a problem with US players - why would we? We loved Landon Donovon, Brian McBride was appreciated greatly with many fans wanting to keep him, and we even liked Joe-Max Moore even though he wasn't the best player.

Also, most feel that Tim Howard has been good for us, but isn't anymore - I wouldn't read any more into it than that. You can't honestly justify being annoyed at people being frustrated at a player being hammered because he isn't good enough
simply because of his nationality. I'm British but I'm not bothered if for example Barkley loses form and is slated and dropped.

We need the best players playing well - not sentimental team selections.

Translated: you don't agree with me so you must be racist.

The lad was O K (and no better) and now he's less than O K. That's my opinion and it isn't based on some fascist state of mind, it's based on watching these frustrating buggers for a long, long time.

As you can tell from my post above, I just don't get the anti-US accusations.

We've welcomed all our US players over the years, it's just Tim Howard has lost all form and is being called out for it.

We can't and shouldn't avoid criticising a player down to his nationality.

He can't live on one World Cup record for the remainder of his career. Neville Southall was the best in the world 25 years ago, that doesn't mean he'd play well today.

These anti-US accusations perturb me and I'm becoming offended by them. I'm not anti-US in the slightest, nor are the majority of fans. I am however, anti-poor-form in players, and if a player isn't playing well then he shouldn't be in an Everton shirt, regardless of nationality - Tim Howard has been good, but isn't at present. I feel you're viewing Howard through Uncle Sam tinted spectacles mate and I understand that, but you can't force your favouritism on to everyone else.

There seems to be some resistance on GOT to rational criticism per se. Extreme reactions to Howard being criticised and previously Osman. It's like we're some sort of Port Vale level club and should tolerate being dragged down. Yet when decent players like Barkley and Mirrallas take stick the rest of us disagree but don't start crying about it.

You'll never rationalise the mind of a football fan mate.
