Tim Howard

The great GOT Howard v Mignolet debate. Another good distraction but conclusively ended on Sunday.

Hardly, he had two shots right at him and i don't recall them giving away free headers, nice try Chang, but Mignolet is rubbish, maybe Howard is as well, but Howard always has and always will be the better of the two keepers.

We had plenty of opportunities to replace him, Jack Butland should have been bought when he was available, think we haggled over 300k if memory serves me right. Stoke now have a keeper in place for the next 10 years if he stay's there. Howard has served his purpose, if we are to move on we need to buy and buy big if needed, not some youngster who we hope will develop.
Could do worse than Mathew Ryan the Australian keeper at Valencia, being kept out of the side because Domenech is in such great form

He's still not as bad as you make him out to be. Completely at fault for the goal yesterday, but besides being a good shot stopper, Mignolet is turd.
How on gods earth can anyone defend Tim Howard. I dont give a crap how good or how bad the rs keeper is Tim Howard is awful at every thing about being a goal keeper,ho he stops shots whoopy doo.Tim is rubbish always as been always will be.Its been said on many occasions on GOT if he was any good the Mancs would never have sold him.

Didn't they sell Ronaldo mate ?

I just love you guys...

Bobby is looking like a top manager again, Rom is scoring regularly, Ross isn't being a waste of Space, McCarthy nullified the biggest threat the RS have, Naismith scores a hattrick against City, Kone's been playing really well and McGeady and Kev haven't been getting the games to piss people off, who can we legitimately fume at now?

Yeah! it's back to Tim's turn

It would be funny if it wasn't true

What was not funny was TH looking at Ings five yards out with the ball coming to his head, and TH totally static on his line again from a cross from a corner kick!
That's the difference of us winning 1-0 yesterday!

And yet in the Summer nobody was saying that replacing Tim was anywhere near a maximum priority, but now all the Keyboard Kloppmiesters are saying it definitely should have been.
Everything is easier with hindsight isn't it.

No I have been a critic of TH since he undeservedly came straight back in the team after Robles kept 3 clean sheets, and went on to have a very poor season the fact the club gave him a 3 year contract extension was imo a mistake as his age is catching up on him Positionally he is poor , and as for corners in the six yard box he is stuck to his line I have advocated that for 12 months -
Whether Robles is an ideal replacement I am unsure as he has not had a run of games - RM was at fault to drop him when he looked quite good in those clean sheet games, on return TH was in very poor form improved this season , but imo back to his cowardly ways on coming out for a simple cross inside his six yard box he had a clear run to catch or punch the ball - its a major flaw in his game proved to me yesterday he looks scared to come out with his hands he should dominate his area not rely on anyone in the six yard box to do his job!!

I keep championing butland...however stoke dont need the money.

If we have any funds in January I would like us to try and get Jack Butland from Stoke.
Tim should have claimed that cross yesterday and looked a bit shakey throughout.
He has been a good servant to the club, but we could do with a younger, top class keeper to grow with the rest of our prospects.

Begovic was available this off season. He's better than Howard. Howard has been past it for a long time. Horrendous for the first goal on the weekend.

Brad Friedel was a great keeper, Spurs wanted someone who could save them a extra 6-9 points a season, which beyond doubt Lloris is doing.
Problem as ever is that we don't have £10-15m to spend on a keeper.
Plus I cant be too aggressive to Howard because I did say I would persevere for another season given we needed a CB, RW/LW,No.10 and striker.
