The first goal was on of them, you make a decision and go with it. If he would put his weight going towards the near post and the ball went into the centre and someone poked it home he'd get abuse.
yup, tried to cheat towards the center for the ball in and got exposed for it

how was he at fault for the 2nd? the entire defense just stood there and let nasri, etc walk in. no pressure on the ball at all

Ducked under the ball as a Nasri lob he could have just caught went over him. It was the classic Howard falling backwards motion he does every time he makes a save.

That's scrapping the barrel. City were not coming away without scoring today

They definitely weren't when you have Howard in goal. I've got no problem conceding from genuine good goals, but watching us concede at the near post again in a tight game is absolutely infuriating. Game completely changes then and there's probably not a side in the league who can play against City one goal down. If we ever want to win anything we need to bin the bearded buffoon.

To all the people who don't know what they're talking about when they say "keepers shouldn't get beat at the near post" : Thats exactly what it means, not just when the ball is slightly closer to the post it goes in near than the other one.

That was amateur goalkeeping. I know what he was doing, but Premier League keepers shoudn't do it. Sunday League keepers shouldn't do it.

You stand up and make yourself big. If the other player is good enough to find the small gap at the far post, fair enough, well played them.

You don't jump accross the goal to intercept a cross and leave a bloody big gap at the near post, it's a hideously basic error.

And again, when a player is through on goal and the ball bounces up as you come out, you make yourself big. You don't keep your arms down and slightly duck/turn your back.

Amateur hour from someone who should know better but unfortunatly doesn't. And probably doesn't care either.
