Tim Howard

He seemed to duck below the ball for the first goal when if he had made himself bigger or even did his trademark starjump the ball would surely have bounced back off him.

sounds like under-confidence, and giving him the armband may have been a signal of support. But I don't believe this will work the way Martinez & Jags want it to (can't teach an old dog new tricks).

This is it, innit

The more I look at that goal the more exasperated I become.
It should have been caught or punched before the attacker got to it hard though when you are scary poos!

I bet he couldn't even name 3 Ramones songs either !!

I don't even like goalkeepers as captains anyway to be honest as they don't have the involvement in play outside the box wherein they can cajole and direct players and also have the now necessary dialogue with the referee....a growing feature in games today. Moreover though and regardless of that, I cant see any valid reason for Howard to get the armband in Jags absence. He defies the stability and example a captain should give his side with erratic damaging performances that are costly not only in goals conceded and points dropped, but also the effect his poor displays could have on our young defenders who are finding their way in the Premiership. All his off pitch cockiness and arrogant demeanour doesn't translate when he pulls the jersey on and RM needs to mark his card and address the issue as a matter of urgency. Its one thing to not criticise your player in public...but another to have him jeopardising the success of the team.
