Tim Howard

“Tim Howard is one of our leaders, one of the most solid performers,” Martinez said. “What he brings as a goalkeeper is his understanding with other players, what he has achieved in the game, and when he is fully fit, he is a very strong performer."
Martinez is taking the piss with that stream of faecal matter. Wise up you soft Spanish tosspot and pick the best players.

He should be dropped but Martinez doesn't have the balls. Before the game they showed a similar flappy performance from Paul Gerrard. I think he only played one more game after that sometimes there comes a moment when a player needs to be taken out the team for everyones benefit.

The irony is you'd think he'd favour Robles having worked with him previously.

Time to drop Howard and give Robles a run of games. Howard needs to go to the MLS at the end of the season.

Is right.

By coming out with that crap about Howard being automatic first pick when fit, he not only shot Joel in the head, he also removed any genuine feeling of competition from the hapless over the hill Howard.

It was an awful managerial decision and an even worse managerial statement

Its unfortunate how it's worked out. Most on here thought Howard was the better of the two and that Robles was crap, I did. However when he got his chance he had a bit of a dodgy start but kept 3 clean sheets after which, again, most on here thought let him continue and see how good he can become. Howard should not be an automatic first pick, indeed no one should, performance is everything. I'd like to see Robles given another chance but not through injury but through Howard being droped through his inability to hold onto a ball.........

I make it 10 goals he is DIRECTLY responsible for.

2 v Palace at Home
1 v Liverpool away
1 v Spurs away
1 v Sunderland away
1 v Hull at home (near post)
1 v Southampton (pathetic kick out)
2 v Leicester today
1 v Chelsea away

Thats not including all round play which doesnt instill confidence, creates fear and negativity.
Not one match winning save.

Martinez MUST take fault for significant part of this since he come back in the team though.

It's not just his direct mistakes either, when he's flapping around like a disjointed sealion, the composure of our defence, which has looked quite solid recently, evaporates. There were a few moments today when defenders were looking to him to come out wide and collect the ball, only to find him dithering in his six yard box. And why does he wear spoon shaped boots? his kicking is awful. To sum up, koff Howard.

STAT ATTACK

All good keepers have erratic moments, but Howard has just unseated a lad who has done better than Howard in about 2,3 seasons in my opinion.
