Tim Howard

Howard's a good keeper. Sometimes a great one, as we saw last season and in the world cup. However, like all keepers he is prone to mistakes.
At the moment he's costing us more points than he's winning with his saves. Frustrating yes, but it doesn't mean that his career with us is over and he isn't good enough to play for us. All players go through patches of bad form. It's no surprise that his bad form coincides with that of the team. However if his run of form continues throughout the rest of the season we need to look at giving Joel a go and finding a replacement for Howard.

Still supporting USMNMNMNUMNMNT instead of Everton?
Instead?

My fault, I didnt realize you cannot support a player and his(my) national team AND be an Everton supporter.

A good long term replacement for us would be Kasper Schmeichel. Cracking all round keeper & 9 caps for Denmark .. I think he'd thrive at a bigger club. Signed with Leicester till 2018 unfortunately but relegation may affect his availability next summer.

Not sure if he would be available but irrespective of ability, Howard is getting older, Robles I think many will agree is not the answer to replace him. We do need over the summer if not before to be looking for a replacement.

Did you see him the other day mate? He has been awful this season, having a poor defense in front of him might not be helping, but it isnt helping Howard either.

Sadly this season has shown him up a bit mate.

I'll admit to never having been a big fan of Tim Howard. He's a good goalie, has been a very good goalie at times and occasionally inspired. His record on paper and statistically looks very good, and I'm sure that once he hangs his gloves up, he can/could do a job for us back in the USofA.

What I will say in his defence is that Everton having Chris Woods as the goalie coach for as long as he was... was a mistake.

Woods never taught Tim how to properly command his area, communicate with those in front of him nor how to best choose when to catch a cross or punch. US goalies are prone to punching and that should have been coached out of TH in my opinion.

The reason why goalies punch crosses is because it is statistically much safer than trying to catch a cross 10 feet in the air while being contested.

When has Howard cost us points besides the Crystal Palace game?
Spurs? He saves a one on one and an unmarked player gets a rebounds.
Man U? He doesn't kick a ball out of bounds and 20 touches later it goes in after poor defending?
Liverpool? Doesn't save a free kick from one of the best in the business and any one with a brain would have known it was going in before it was taken... Same with Sunderland.

Soccer is a team game, only people who don't know what that is like point blame at individuals.
