Is right.

There are plenty of professional athletes in the high 30's in other sports. Mostly in positions that aren't nearly as demanding from a cardiovascular view.

Plenty in baseball, for example. I don't see why you couldn't have an older guy in a position like keeper.

Good stuff, best 'keeper since Martyn, no real need to replace him any time soon, would hope to bring in someone who can challenge him consistently for the number one spot over the next year if that someone isn't Joel "What's that white round thing flying towards me" Robles, but even at 38/39 I can imagine him being a good squad option.

Think of it this way. As long as he keeps up form as good as his down year last year, he'll be worth something to American clubs, which is where he'll end up eventually. I see this more as protecting him for the next two years, and making sure we don't let him go for free rather than committing to his late late 30s.
