FWIW He was past his prime when he finished with us, it's just a shame he had Martinez's defense infront of him. No one deserves that!

Liked him for us just fine when he was doing well. Obviously like everyone says he overstayed his welcome but can only blame the defense so much. Just hate that cringeworthy thing he does when he makes a routine save and gets up screaming at his back line.

Nice bit of trivia that. He was decent for us for a number of years, but stayed too long which was a shame, but was by no means all his fault.

Used to love when teams would get a free kick about 25 yards out and Howard would stand tight to the far post, giving the free taker a glorious chance if they could get it over the wall. That being said he wasn't all that bad seeing as we spent next to nothing on him.

Was a good keeper for us for a long while. Let's not forget the absolute dross before him - Paul Gerrard (actually hate him), Richard Wright, Simonsen etc.

I liked the big guy but his form slumped when he grew that beard. Sort of the reverse of Samson.

I remember the rs doing it in the 80s. Wasn't there once a story in the 80s that the wimbledon team all spat on the this is Anfield sign on the way out to the pitch, before the rs players went past?
