Everton have received a timely boost with the news that Tim Cahill is back in full training.
The influential midfielder has been out of action for The Toffees since May after undergoing surgery on a metatarsal injury, which has dogged him for much of his time at Goodison Park.
Everton boss David Moyes has been conservative in his assessment of the Australia international’s projected return date, but now the Scot can finally begin to work the tenacious 28-year-old back into his plans.
"Tim's back in full training," Everton head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website. "He's been training the last couple of days in fact.
"He got the go ahead from his surgeon in Sydney, who we sent the latest batch of X-rays to a week or so ago. He's emailed us back having reviewed them and he's delighted with the progress of the repair.
"He's trained brilliantly and he looks in very good shape. He's excelled at all the conditioning exercises and he's been champing at the bit to get back involved.
"All players want to play and he's had a lot of problems with that foot. But hopefully it's sorted now.
"The previous surgery hadn't really solved the problem but this was advanced, almost revolutionary surgery, and - touch wood - it looks good."

As long as we dont rush him back this time. Make sure he's fully fit and the food is holding up good before he gets anywhere near even the subs bench. We cant afford to lose him again through a long injury.
