I would expect that it's all down to a combination of ensuring fan safety (crushes) and also actually stopping the prospect of any long queues.

For if people actually use their correct turnstiles, then queues should be less as there'll be a set number going through each gate pre-match.

People using the closest turnstile to their seat or from where they're travelling from messes up that quota and then you'll get queues or crushes.

I'm in the Street End and my turnstiles are 29 onwards yet I come from City Road, hence they're further away. Yet I breeze in each time!
 

I turned up more than ten minutes before kick off and still missed the first few minutes as the queue was so big. The new system isn't as efficient as it should be. Plenty more were affected, so it's the system rather than fans turning up with insuffient time.

Loads of wools having a go at match going fans. I saw the game better than you. You should be not allowed to post comment on the game until 24 hours after the full time whistle so the real fans can post their superior assessment.

To be honest that was exactly accurate, I walked up the gladwys street which was mayhem, you could just about squeeze through near to the houses as there was so many people outside. The queues for each turnstile were snaking back on themselves, it was the same when I got to the Bullens, heard Z-cars as I was waiting and then heard the roar for the goal, people were rightly getting annoyed then the police told the stewards to just get people in, missed the first 12 minutes of the game. And I got directed to go in a different turnstile which read my card but was terribly slow. A proper opening day shambles:mad:
 
I arrived at 2:40, same time as I have for the last 10 years, never got in u til 3:10. Add to this the escalators not working and at half time the chang pump packing in so instead of just taking it off and moving to the next customers, all the bar staff just stood there with plastic cups waiting for it to be fixed. Shambles
 

Noticed they changed the scanners too. No longer the ones with the big orange thing, that you just swiped your ST past. The new ones looked like they were causing hold ups. Queue was double normal size. Mine swiped OK.

I was late getting in due to traffic and then Coudnt park anywere ridiculous! But I got in ok with new ticket thing but they look tacky. Obvs they dodgy tho if we've had cues of people tryna get in

Can't recall many crushes since the seats can you?

There were different turnstile operators than usual on yesterday, same blokes have been there for years weren't on, think Everton must have finally got onto there little fiddle

Easily remember Anfield two years ago which was atrocious outside and simply due to overcrowding at turnstiles, so I'm an advocate for it.

It was a balls up.

I hadn't realised they'd tried to enforce the turnstile number on your ticket, but it explains why the queue at the Park End turnstiles nearest the Bullens were longer than usual.

Doubtless nobody at the club thought to check previous seasons data to see who used which turnstile, so they were probably blissfully unaware of the problem they were going to cause.

It should sort itself out by Stoke though.
