The Holy Trinity

Player Valuation: £10m
Here we go with the second part of my ratings , as before do join in ...

Phil Jagielka

The Jag is an outstanding defender in my opinion and if he had not been injured last summer HE would have been the subject of a £30 million pound bid by Shittee not Judas Lescott !!! Anyway, we should thank our stars that he's now recovering and England's loss is certainly our gain. He will return fitter, sharper and ready to rock for next season. Easily our best defender...

Rating 9-5 / 10 (When fully fit BTW)

Joseph Yobo

The Yob on his day is a quality defender however, for me he just hoofs the ball and is prone to making mistakes ! He has good pace and is good in the air. But is also a 'High Earner' at Goodison which for me outweighs his good points as he is 29 and in my opinion should not be an automatic starter. Personally, I'd say thank you Joseph and hope he has a good World Cup and sell him !

Rating 7 / 10

Johnny Heitinga

Johnny until last weeks mis-demeanours was almost everybody's choice for New Legend status ! For me he is still part of the dream partnership with the Jag. He has proven that he is a quality player with a big heart. He can tackle has decent pace and isn't too bad in the air. Now most importantly for me he can pass the ball. I reckon with him and Jags at the back and Mo Fro and Tets in the middle we would have a strong core in the team next season. In short I Love Johnny !!!!

Rating 9 / 10

Sylvain Distin

Sylvain had a decent start to his Everton career but one night in Lisbon (Benfica) blew his confidence and for a few months after that he looked all over the place. The last 3 months of the season he picked up his game again to turn in some impressive displays. He has good pace and is strong. His downside is like Yobo he can be flat footed and often gives possession away cheaply. Also I KNOW he's on big wages and at 32 he might be worth letting go for money and re-signing Senderos on a free for much less wages.

Rating 6-5 / 10 (with potential to be a 7 )

Seamus Coleman

Seamus is a tremendous prospect and one I'm looking foward to watching raid down our right hand side for many seasons to come. When I first saw him against Benfica I was worried that he wasn't great positionally (still a bit of a problem i.e Play off final for Ledley's goal) and he also gave the ball away far too much. However, he was playing at left back and it was his debut ! Since his Spurs performance and THAT tackle on Bellamy he had grown and grown and was excellent for Blackpool so I'm hoping he kicks on again this season.

Rating 6 / 10 (Can only rate him like that due to lack of appearances)

Tony Hibbert

Tony has been a decent player for us over the last 8 years. He is a top quality man marker and still the best fullback at chasing a player and performing a slide tackle. (The downside to that is that he has normally made a mistake that requires a slide tackle). Tony's distribution is also limited although he did have a couple of storming games towards the end of the season, particularly against Portsmouth. For me though I think we have outgrown him as a starter although I'm not suggesting we get shut. In my opinion a decent squad player.

Rating 5 / 10

Shane Duffy is also a decent prospect but haven't seen enough of him to rate him properly though. The above ratings however, are only my opinion !!

Fair ratings.

Although, i'd give Jags 9, Heitinga 8 and Hibbert 6, but that's just my opinion like. It's not far off yours anyway

Oh, and Yobo 6, cause he's currently [Poor language removed], but has been good.

Jags - 9

Yobo - 6

Heitinga - 9

Distin - 6

Hibbert - 6

Coleman - 6 - great prospect, potential for a 8/9

Duffy - ???

Can't be arsed explaining why...

Jags 10, Yobo 6, Johnny Judas H 1, Dustbin -3, Coleman 9, Hibbert 0.

Now Johnny has finally convinced me, you're the one who's slating him? Please show me some video evidence that John Heitinga made any of those comments, that made him a villain on here. I still haven't heard any quote directly from the man himself and don't believe he would be stupid enough to do so.

THT dons his hard hat !!!!

Jags: Said a couple of years ago Jags had a choice he could be a trully world class defender in the John Terry mould if he choose to progress in his development, or a cult hero like Waggy if not. Thankfully he has progressed and turned into a star individual performer. We all had a sly smile on our faces when Lescott was sold knowing we kept the ace in hole with Jags. Despite his individual performences he organises our defence - hes our leader at the back - our communicator he steers the unit. This is a glowing tribute considering he played with both Yobo and Lescott who both had far more international caps and a captaincey when Jags didnt. Its no coincidence we have suffered our worse season defensively for beards while hes been out injured.

8/10

Yobo: Anyone else remember the days when he was our best player, our player of the season almost every season and how people would complain he didnt get a chance with Weir and Stubbs in the team. How times change, im a big Yobo fan bar the occasional lapses in concentration, he is a top quality defender and has been for years. I think people seem to expect rather then appreiciate how good and consistent he can be focussing instead on the shiner new toys in the squad. Yobo and Jags are the only two centre halfs in the squad who have proved thay can keep 20 odd clean sheets a season as a partnership. He is not a natural organiser - his club and international expierence may lead us to think he should be and yet he has struggled without Jags of late. But hes been on almost every journey with us over the past 8 years and has massive expierence and showed superb consistencey and offers us a decent measure of safety at the back - and this i beleive would be a waste if we were to get rid. A really good defender full tilt who will beneift from Jags being back.

7/10

Distin: The Sqaure peg in the sqaure hole - left side that is, he suffers from not being Lescott to be honest - who was a fantastic defender for us, im still sitting on the fence with him as i know he has the ability as i have seen it over the years. A strong start and finish indicates there is a lot more to give and again someone who will benifit from Jags being back and consistencey partnership will hopefully improve his performence. He will be an option next season offering us something natural leftsided in the squad and i think its between him and Yobo for fighting it our for the second spot beside Jags.

Heitinga: I wouldnt have him at centre half given the choice, i dont think hes any better defenively then Yobo or Distin. I dont think Moyes will go with him their either. His one defineing charicteristic is that he has lovely, and effective distrubution form there something we havnt had in quite a while and thats the hook of why people want him back there. He has defensive frailiets in his game for me, positioning, can be caught ball or man watching and maybe a little indicplined in holding a unit or resisting going to attack the man at the sake of the line - he can do well if he ends up there but needs a lot of work in defence for me.

Much prefer him in midfeild, he has a bit more freedom in there and back up of a line behind him, he has a natural tenacity to match his commitment and excellent distribution to really hurt. Great appetite for the game. More to come

7/10

Tony Hibbert: Like or Loath him, he has and will stand the test of time in this squad, not the Cafu everyone wishes he was but a really good defensive full back. We need him, there are plentey of games during the season were he is at his most effective and Ronaldo never got a sniff out of him. I think hes been great this year, coming in at centre half when needed and a usual strong showing at full back when called upon - if you look at some of our best defensive performences Hibbert is the team. He had an amazing second half to the season, the season before last - but people forget that after his performence in the cup final - he carried it on this year and never lets us down - his expiernece and consistencey counts for a lot. Will be intresting to see how the Hibbert, Neville, Coleman triangle pans out. 7/10

Seamie: The great hope for those who have dreams of Cafus and Alves - perhaps the man to be the right sided Baines - he is certainly offensively as good as anything we have seen at Goodison or perhaps in the PL at right back in a long time. Seamus will get there and can be an effective weapon in and out of the team for the next seaosn or so - but hes not ready to be first choice yet. He is defenively still very frail and leaves a lot of work for centre halves to do if hes caught to high up the pitch which leave the team vulnerable. Like Bainsy he will learn how to decide to use his powers and decsion making for the betterment of the team and when that happens he will undoubthtly take his chance and be a starter for years to come, such a dangerous player in the Gareth Bale mode. A cap from the Trap would do him the world of good in terms of his development this summer. 6/10

Shane Duffy: Going to be a top top player for years to come, a natural defender who has style, mobility, brilliant positioing, physcality and commitment, you get the sense with Shane that he gets it and wants it. An Everton captain and stalwart in the making this lad can be a trually gifted centre half when trully gifted centre halfs are almost extinct. 6/10

I have 1 rule and 1 rule only were newspapers are concerned, never believe anything unless they have quotes or pictures.

If he didnt say it, he should sue or at least have put the record straight.

Im sure I will forgive him, in time and if he didnt say it, well im sorry, but im not convinced yet.
