THT's Half Time Report !!

Agree completely with THT and Chico.

But I'd be surprised to see Moyes change his ways. He'll probably just play someone else in the Cahill role throughout January, and resume service as normal.

Personally, I think a lot of the hopes of this season will hang on what happens in the window. If we can get some of the dead weight out -- of which there is a lot -- then maybe we can afford to bring in some fresh blood.

I agree with you RFUS, but it just seems awfully quiet out there in the transfer window doesn't it? *crickets*

Sums it up really..

We are much better than our current place in the table.. We dominate most games, just can't find the back of the net..

Here's too 2011!! COYB!!

Just can't find the back of the net! Like it's not crucial. Would you say just can't stop conceding goals?
You're not David Moyes are you?

To be fair to Moyes, it is fairly crippling when the only player you have doing anything up front is Tim Cahill. Most decent teams have three players who are the main sources of goals - the striker, the support striker/centre forward and the wing forward. We've only got one of them and not only that, he's the only one with any sort of reliable goal threat.

That said, we've had plenty of time to correct this - we have NEVER had a wing forward that scores goals under Moyes and the last time we had a striker that scored consistently was Yak in 07/08. Quite frankly this is a ridiculous situation. I blame Moyes for the lack of a wing forward (you don't have to spend a fortune to get one) and the board for the striker situation (we've twice had to 'have a go' with frees in what should be the most valuable position on the pitch? crazy).

Great post mate...I really thought we have played some good football this season.. unfortunately we have only played with one striker for the majority of the season and don't give me that Cahill is the second striker crap..If we had played 2 strikers for the majority of the season I would guarantee we would be further up the table.

We have outplayed most midfield this season IMO , we have passed the ball really well..We are failing to unlock the opposition's defence , mainly because of the one striker up front system...We have failed to score more than two goals all season..Apart from the Huddersfield game & the Man Utd game..

Huddersfield are a league one team , but in my view from watching the game we attacked from the off and Guye was great in that game as was Beckford...2 players not given a good chance in the first team..The Man Utd game , we were able to get a draw by throwing the kitchen sink in the final minutes..

What dissapoints me the most is Moyes failure to recognise when to throw the kitchen sink...Why oh why didn't he put saha , beckford and yak up front in the final 20 mins or even last 10 mins..We played them off the park in aspects of the match but we had no striker to unlock the defense and Cahill was in the center circle when we were on the attack..the system was a failure last night..

I just hope moyes realises that the system doesn't work..The thing that concerns me the most is that we have played 19 games and he still hasn't realised it..We are 3 points off the bottom three that also concerns me...

Nice use of the word 'wing forward', mate.

Ahem ... THAT sounds distinctly like the argument Ive put to you since your hand went in in November !!!!

But , it IS Duce , so I get it , Cock' .

Note for future ref' , though , Bruv' - ORA-CULA ,.....

Sort of mate but unfortunately your telling me it when I'm fuming !! Ha ha, but still problems have not been addressed that needs to change sharpish !

Not much to add to what's been said really other than that I'm somewhat baffled by how little we've seen of a certain £9m Russian AM who got more goals and assists in less game time than Pienaar last season.

I don't want to think "Right, this is where we kick on from" too many more times after a good result only for us to do something daft against vastly inferior opposition. It's depressing.

Nice one links. Yeah Timmy is far more effective coming from deep ! The problem is when he's up on his own he drifts further and further back to get involved which leaves us with nothing up top ! I just wish he'd throw caution to the wind and give Beckford 5 games on the run and let's see what happens. He has looked dangerous if a bit rough at times, but lad knows where he needs to be to get on the end of things !

Yeah I'm also wondering why Bily has not featured ! I think Moyes really doesnt know his best team and is hoping to 'stumble' upon his best team , but trying 2 up top might help !!
