The French govt. is planning on raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 which causes riots in the streets, cars getting burned, tear gas etc. The Australian govt. raised the retirement age from 65 to 67 last year and we hardly had a grumble.

Too true. Would they object to big increases in tax to maintain their existing pension rights because that is the only way it could be afforded.

Exactly. It's almost certain that people in their 20's won't be retiring at 60/62. The demographics just don't support that point of view, so all these kids'll be doing is ensuring they're taxed a whole lot more to pay for an ever increasing retired population.
