This is how it could end up

Player Valuation: £20m
Ok, so those of you know me on here know that I live in Brighton. I want to tell you what I did on Monday, my cousin is a Tranmere Rovers fan and they played Portsmouth. I haven't seen him for a while so I decided to make the short trip to Fratton and have a few pints with him and watch the game.

A few weeks ago I admit I came on here having a go at Kenwright etc the usual blah but after an Afternoon in the company of Portsmouth Football Club I have changed my mind. Not long ago they were getting taken over, decent money spent, won the FA Cup etc etc now look at them!

I couldn't even pay by debit card for a match ticket (£20) they wanted cash in hand! No ale in the ground (although there is a roof on the visitors section these days) boys it was grim, I didn't recognise a single one of their players and they were very very poor although Tranmere weren't any better.

All I wanted to get across was I would sooner have Bill in charge than end up like Portsmouth it was sad to see "Wrexham on a Tuesday night" for them, however I'm concerned over any takeover now.

I think Di Canio at Sunderland is a big sign that we have to be careful. I want to compete with the best, but on our terms, I hate the thought of being run like Man City or Chelsea, as much as the clubs where it hasn't worked at all.

Just because Portsmouth have gone **** doesn't mean it's a good reason for us to stick with Blue Bill. The guy is a phoney and has been pretending to try and sell us for a decade. The sooner he is gone the better.

If it's a choice between Kenwright and upper table stability and new owner and instability, I know what I prefer

Not saying we should never sell, but if we do, we should be bloody careful about it. Just because Kenwright goes doesn't mean things are going to automatically get better.

Don't let your hatred for the man drive you to make rash decisions

Really??
And we hadn't even started talking about blackburn's and villa's takeovers

That doesn't mean it would happen to us.

It wouldn't if the right owners took over

It could if the wrong ones did

Again, not an argument to not sell the club, but I think too many people just assume it'll be sunshine and rainbows if Kenwright sells, which is not guaranteed. The point remains that out of all the clubs that have been sold only 3 (Chelsea, Crawley and Man City) have had any prolonged success. There's been quite a few examples of clubs who have gone the other way (Blackburn, Portsmouth, Villa etc)

And again, I'd rather the club be stable in the top half of the Prem rather than scrapping lower down because the new owners don't know what the fudge they're doing

If/when the club is sold, it has to be carefully considered and the buyers backgrounds need to be fully inspected

Perhaps Bill's taking us there slowly without the fire-works...hard to tell at 'The Peoples Club' like.

Spot on.

The lesser of two evils doesn't represent a good option. With Kenwright in charge, the club will die. Might not be as quick as Portsmouth but it'll happen nonetheless.

I'm not going to get into an argument here because there's a special thread for this sort of stuff

I'll just say

No. The club isn't going to die with Kenwright in charge. We might slip down the league table slightly when certain players leave, but we're not going to die.

For the love of Pete

Right, I'm off for a brew. It's too early for Kenwright nonsense. I can still taste my toothpaste FFS

The only difference between us and one of these clubs that have got into real financial trouble is two bad seasons in a row.

If Moyes took us to 17th rather than 7th then we'd lose £10m worth of income (as a minimum). That would mean selling a top player without replacing them. If we repeated that finish the next season then our income would be even lower and we'd be in fire sale territory.

In the 13 years Bill has been running the show we have massively fallen behind our rival clubs in terms of non-guaranteed income.

We are so reliant on Moyes it is scary.

This all day.

It isn't the board or Kenwright who we have to thank for Everton's apparent "stability", it's Moyes (for all his faults and limitations).
