This pretty much highlights how average England actually are, pleased John Stones produced an excellent display, he has grown in this tournament in the toughest of the back three positions with a poor midfielder in front of him. Yep. They try to play decent stuff, clearly have some strengths, and navigated a reasonable draw. Fell short against better sides. No shame in that.

But the difference off the pitch, the age of the squad, a clear system in place, a reconnect with the fans is all excellent to see
