Things we learned

1. We need a midfielder who will sit and not wander. Allan with more discipline or Gbamin when he’s fit.

2. Fullbacks need to block crosses.

3. Doucoures main focus should be to cover James on the right.

4. can’t have a passenger as the 3rd midfielder.

5. Richarlison is key

1) That Coleman isn't good enough but is still our best RB by far
2) That Jordan Pickford is now playing his last season as Blues keeper
3) Despite having decent CBs on paper..there is still something wrong with the actual defensive shape
4) That we need a RW if we are going to play James central or a new number 10 if we are going to keep him out wide
5) The academy is not producing enough first team players
6) We can't sell any of the wasters so we need to wait them out.
7) Given no 6 above we need to be better on our scouting / transfers...it's much easier to sign players then it is to get rid of them.
8) We are better this season and will finish higher up with more points

We have no strength in depth, we already knew this, we've learnt nothing; these players or the majority of them fail to muster any sort of consistency on a long term basis. If you have a team of inconsistent players you get inconsistent results.

Players look mentally and physically jaded.

Several PL managers have complained about the schedule... yes we aren’t in Europe but many of our players are internationals.

These international ‘breaks’ are a pain in the backside and just add to a players load.

Pace and running into the box. Saw it yesterday with Liverpool. The amount of pens you can get will heavily decide where you finish. Leicester have had 8 and are top. A slight nudge in the box and you go down and it’s a pen. We need more runs into the box.

An observation
A large part of our attacking game is to whip crosses in for DCL but our wide players don’t have the pace to get past the opposition fullbacks to deliver the cross.... At best the attempt at a cross is made even though their player has got goal side, blocks and ricochets off for a corner!
Or they realise they don’t have the pace to get past the fullback so go backwards or sideways again and they are almost all guilty of this which highlights the problem.
Oh and then we lose possession and get hit on the counter!

James on the right has been sussed out by teams who are having all sorts of joy playing 2v1 against Coleman. This will continue

Doucoure/Allan are getting dragged out onto the right to help Coleman, leaving massive gaps in the middle.

We push forward but dont press the ball, so its easy for teams to counter.

Gyfi doesnt do anything

Pickford is still Pickford and still needs replacing

Our lack of pace on the pitch is killing us.

We are the slowest team in the league

We better hope we keep Richarlison fit for every game now otherwise we are screwed.

Any signings in Jan need to have pace.

Just the two things for me.

Stop giving away fouls. It's like all the time. Even worse as the narrative right now is that refs are out to get us (I don't agree with this by the way, refs are just crap).

Take the lead out of your boots. The amount of over hit crosses this past weekend was ridiculous. Not just slightly over hit either but crosses going out for throws etc.

Realistically we are not learning anything that we didn't already know, we just forgot some of it for some reason.
