2025/26 Thierno Barry

His aerial wins are really no different than DCL's in his last 3 years. Yes it's great, but there's no one around him to take advantage.

It's clear, from his play and his highlight reels, that's he's more comfortable in space than he is in the middle. When in space he can turn people and his lack of foot quickness isn't as apparent. They're trying to make him a center forward, and he's never really played that way.

I also believe, given the number 9 shirt, that Beto was expected to lead the line, which was a nice thought but unrealistic given his ability.

I'll also say it's not like he's missing tons of big chances. Yes he's missed a few, but the misses seem more noteworthy because there are so few chances he's getting.

Yes, you'd like a striker to move and create chances, but that same criticism was leveled at DCL while he was here and now he's scoring goals. Did he just figure out how to create chances himself, or is it the team and the setup creating chances for him?

At any rate, none of the realities (or excuses) are relevant, we need goals. As an attacking side, we are broken (again), and everyone in the attacking 4 has a hand in it.
He does not even have footballers legs - he took up the wrong sport looks like an ideal basket ball player - he is not lightning fast either mix him with Beto - not a CF between them = sell & cut our losses....

The pair of them 2 goals between them ....

His dad was a pro basketball player. Think he most likely does have the pace tbh, its his lack of balance that's holding him back.

Saw Barry say recently say that he looks at Mbappe's game, not because he thinks they are similar players but because he personally believes his biggest asset is his pace.

TBF ploughing that lonely furrow upfront for us is a thankless job - but he has no visible pace you need in the Prem ....& heading the ball on goal both he & Beto are pathetic at it ..... always over the bar .....

Looks to me like a lot of the time he's playing with the handbrake on a bit for whatever reason in regards to pace. Couple moments he's ended up in a wide position and has easily beaten a full back for pace to get to the byline.

Always felt he was an odd signing in that Moyes, in his entire career, with the exception of maybe Jelavic - has never signed a striker who hasn't played in the Prem before and got something out of them.

Early days, but have to be honest - I wouldn't have signed him based on anything we've seen.

A decent few months at Villarreal proves nothing to me.

His nerd charts shown he won the lot in the air in La Liga, I've seen that here by way of flick ons etc but not in an attacking sense.

Ultimately, we can't rely on him to provide any worthwhile benchmark of goals and I'm not sure he has the temperament to constructively wait. Instagram antics, kicking ball away, sulking. Some players need to play, and play through it but we're not a charity.

Moyes does him no favours either.

Would I sell him if we got offered what we paid for him? All day. Same with Beto.

He paid big money for Scamacca for West Ham, the Straq (on loan and out of desperation) and Naismith on a free. But when you actually go through his history of signings for all clubs, I reckon striker is the position he's least signed and when he has, definitely has more wrong than right.

Just looks like it's a weak spot of his whereas he's picked up some amazing creative plates of the years.

I've said about the change of playing style which I think has affected the 2 CFs productivity.

My suggestion would be Vlahovic based on being experienced and less of a risk than who else Moyes may plump for.

I think Vlahovic is on massive wages mate.

Whether we change our style of play or not, you can't factor in the likes of Beto missing a free header from 4yds out (Palace at home where luckily Grealish scored) and Barry missing from 2 yds against Sunderland. Barry doesn't look like he's even got the ability to get a shot away of any sort unless it's put on a plate for him.

Whoever we get, simply has to look far more effective than what we've seen from Barry and Beto this season. They should be embarrassed to call themselves strikers with how little they've contributed so far.

Its a Christmas miracle we're currently 10th when our 2 main strikers are on 1 league goal each.

He also had Vaughn & Cheebes in the under 23s scoring for fun & went out & blew 6 million a high fee on James Beatie who was a flop - when Dean Ashton was at Crewe for 1 million - I can remember us playing Crewe in the FA Cup away & at home in a replay & just scraping past them back then on Radio a certain Ronnie Goodlass of RM stating DM has to sign Ashton he had run our the defence ragged all night ......

No DM knew better in fact it was Kevin Phillips of Southampton he should have signed far cheaper too .... in fact he could have signed him & Ashton & got plenty of change too.....

The same Dean Ashton who was finished at the age of 26 because his body was made of tissue paper.

The one who made the England Squad & Leo Ferdinand did him in training - yes but he was only 21 for £1 million up the road & we ended up with Jimmy big tits for £6 million - he went a season scoring one pen - DM still played him a useless item of a no 9.... Vaughny & Cheebes were better than him FGS - another DM lets not play the youngsters from DM ..... until they mature Vaughny was younger than Big Joe when he made his debut , but it took ages for him to get in our squad probably used on the wing too as Cheebs was .... sad about them both both getting bad injuries too..... both good prospects - Nolan who did Cheebes had to pay out compensation out of court .....

Yeah remember that well, we should have definitely signed Dean Ashton at the time. Agreed we could have signed them both for what we paid for James Beattie, who was absolute garbage.

Moyes wasn't Everton manager when we played Crewe so clearly you either have an agenda or are making stuff up.
*Ashton actually went for £3m.
