2025/26 Thierno Barry

I’m not directly comparing their situations, but being given opportunity to build is important for different reasons. Barry is a little older than hall and livramento were but he is new to the country and league (having also played for 5 different teams in the last 5 seasons which is a lot of disruption).

He is possibly most similar to Gordon in that sense. Who whilst did get on the pitch every game, averaged half an hour a game. Ultimately being built up to being a starter. As I said, that would be the ideal approach, except we don’t have a prolific striker to allow that to happen.
That's kind of what I was getting at though. I'm not sure it's really accurate to say Gordon was being 'built up to be a starter', he just didn't automatically go into their team because they were a good side on a good run and had other options he was competing with. There's no evidence that it was a specific plan or that the experience made him better, that's just a spin you can put on it to make it fit a narrative (not you individually, just generally).

But he's not getting loads of chances to score and fluffing it is he?

Apart from the one chance at Sunderland i cant think of many where i thought "should be burrying it".

Are we going to have a go at ndiaye and kdh for not creating more chances
Agreed, I can't think of any chances he's fluffed except for Sunderland, we create nothing, if any crosses do come in he's usually the only Everton player in the box, the lad needs some crosses coming in, he spends most of the game 30 yards from goal with his back to it trying to win aerial duels, we never have any sustained pressure were we have teams pinned back, creating chances and getting shots in, one things for sure, he holds the ball up better than Beto

Just hyperthetically how much do you think we would get for him and beto combined in jan?

30m for the pair? If that?
I have no idea what the situation is for PSR these days but we could probably get Beto's book value for him now but we would have to take a loss on Barry. The sensible option would be to sell Beto, keep Barry as back up and buy a new forward. I just don't think we have new forward money. My bet is that we sign someone out of favour who is hoping for a world cup slot on loan and keep both Beto and Barry until the summer.

Not a chance. They are £5 million players. Maybe pushing £15 million for the pair if we can find a Thelwell-like victim willing to pay over the odds. Who is looking at these two who can't even test the goalkeeping and thinking "That's exactly what we need in our team". Same with some clowns on here suggesting we could get £20 million for McNeil 😄 — another £5 million player.

I think windymiller is spot on, our best hope is a striker not getting game time and trying to get into a World Cup squad. As for our two, keeping Barry would make sense as cover if we are able to find somebody. Beto hasn’t done a lot despite having game time.

Think the fans have been more than fair with both him and Beto, but think now have to accept the pair of them are useless. Does make ya wonder who scouts these players, has to be some accountability surely.
