2025/26 Thierno Barry

Callum Wilson has been fit this season but he was also sidelined for a total of 29 games during the previous one for two separate injuries. So it's understandable to be a little apprehensive about signing him despite his decent form. As you know everton hasn't had the best luck with injury prone players , people are already losing their mind about rohleView attachment 335238
Thought it was Rhols injury list :D

Barry is much better with the ball at his feet and linking it up. I think betto is much better positionally, running through the lines and goal scoring. If you could combine both of their best attributes, they’d make an average striker. Individually they’re worse than an average striker

I think it was pretty clear last year Moyes wasn’t convinced by Beto and he slated him in pre season too so I genuinely don’t think that’s the case.
So you're telling that Moyes, a very discerning curmudgeon, who has a clear preference for players with premier league experience opted to sign a 22 year old from La Liga as his starting striker? With no plans to gradually acclimate him to the league? That doesn't sound like moyes whatsoever. Moyes was being critical of Beto in the effort to motivate him , as Beto had that streak of 4 goals in 5 matches last season and it looked like Moyes was hoping he could replicate that form if galvanized but once again that's my read on the situation, you have differing outlook which is cool.

I think it's pretty fair and evident to suggest that Beto (a senior pro with the No9 shirt) was generally pinned as the starting or first choice striker at the start of the season, but I also wouldn't say Barry was inherently a "backup" player.

Moyes has said many times they both need to score goals and essentially keep their place because they can't just be handed starts. Whichever way you want to put it, the bottom line is we made the choice to start the season with only 2 strikers on the books so both will no doubt get plenty of games and minutes unless we get an actual striker in January who knows where the goal is.

Still a believer. At the moment, he gets no crosses, no through balls and he is like so many of our recent centre- forwards: a Robinson Crusoe figure, abandoned by other humans.
He is starting to do all the ugly stuff quite well.

My worry is he looks absolutely miles off scoring a goal. He’s started playing like the game matters more when he’s getting about the pitch, we need to see him working hard to score now.

He misheaded a perfectly good cross and back heeled the wrong way ab excellent through ball from KDH
He can't even stay on his feet, lacking in basic coordination.
The flip side of that would be the number of headers he's won recently. Whilst I agree he should have connected better, I suspect it's the pressure.

In his head, he needs a goal and I think that's obvious in how he's playing; it's easy to say, but I would be telling him to relax and it will come.
