2025/26 Thierno Barry

Well there you go.

Barry is no Drogba, sadly.
Love to know if you thought Drogba would be Drogba when he was Barry's age and scoring 3 goals in a season for Guingamp.

Obviously I don't think Barry will be as good as Drogba but people's confidence in their ability to judge football talent and future trajectory never fails to mystify me.

I think there's a player in there. Needs a run of games like ANY player.

Not saying he'll be a world beater or the most prolific but once he gets a couple of goals I think he'll come good.

It's seriously weird, isn't it?

Someone's been fact checking. In fairness different eras so who knows. My point remains that I don't think Barry is ever gonna be prolific.

Not really. Works both ways too. Haaland for example at RB was clearly destined for greater things. Potential is pretty ethereal as you can't measure it accurately. As fans we can provide an opinion, its up to the player to realise the potential. Dele Alli looked for all to see a world beater at one point, then fell off a cliff edge. FWIW, I'm not writing Barry off, but I don't think he's ever gonna be a 20 goal as season player.

I bet a striker coach would be able to give theirno Barry the sharpness and eye for goal, really happy with his performance, just needs a little help. Not easy playing Infront of all us scruffs .

To be fair the two examples you've given here today have been Haaland and Bellingham.

I think it was pretty obvious to anyone that saw those two they were something special and I don't really think anyone expects Barry to be anywhere near that level.

Many players develop a bit later, he might be one of those. Or he might be a Beto. Who knows!

I don't think the response was for the performance, it was to try and jeer/give him support for the sake of support.

If we lost yesterday, fans would be on his case.

We're a fickle bunch.
