2025/26 Thierno Barry

Had a nice touch for the 2nd goal, which was several passes later. I get people want to defend him but it’s not controversial to say he hasn’t really shown much yet. Unsure what we saw in him at the minute.
The goals don't happen without his involvement.

The first goal he holds the ball up well and let's off a good touch and then he creates space with his run to the near post when Grealish crosses it.

Second goal he has a great touch and link up play with Ndiaye but makes the correct decision and passes sensibly to Gana.

It's nothing particularly special, granted, but it's instinctive forward play that really helps and is something Beto completely lacks.

Watching him warm up on the touchline last night just before he came on was ridiculous. He could just about manage to move. At least show you are interested as we need you lad with Beto stinking the gaff out.
Right infront of me this. Said to my daughter at the time about how disinterested he looked! Had to get one of the coaches out to try & get him warmed up properly & still made minimal effort.

The thing I laughed at he never even rushed to get changed when one of the guys told him he was coming on, he just ambled along the touchline. He looks totally not interested, peeved off etc etc etc. Makes you wonder if this is what he is like in training and that's why he is not starting, cause its certainly not due to Beto's form.

The one game he's started in the league we won 2-0 and he was involved in both goals.

Brighton?
Grealish got both assists and barry as far as i can remember wasnt involved in either.
I dont know what to make of this one tbh in terms of where we are with the immediate selection. I tend to go with my gut reaction of what i see, not for the long term but just for the here and now and I thought some of the comments after the Roma friendly were ridiculous. I know people want to see the good in players but still. Him and aznou. Aznou was an abosolute no no not even close to being ready. Barry i thought was ok ish.
The bottom line is we've two strikers who cost nearly 50m and we cant get a goal out of either. Barry gets more slack as he hasnt played enough. But if he cant force Beto out then whats that say.
By all means give him time. Just be nice if Everton managed to buy a striker that is ready to drop into the team and crack on with it. We havent the luxury of other clubs/squads to bed them in as we've got little in reserve.

His body language dosent fill you with hope

No idea if hes gonna be any good or not
I’ve thought this from day one. Can’t work out if it’s just the way he is, or he can’t be arsed.

Always found it odd when watching the behind the scenes stuff how he doesn’t seem interact with anyone much. Just seems no enthusiasm to anything he does.
Not a good look when you’ve only just joined the club.

I'm old so you might be right but grealish got the assists. I mean unless you want to keep going back to when he touched the ball. Involved is pushing it a bit.
It's not pushing it at all. I think it just reflects how much the game has become stats orientated. Sometimes something a player does in the early build up of a goal is better than what's recorded as an 'assist'.
