Player Valuation: £40m
Let’s see him start games with KDH, Grealish, N’Diaye, gana starting a d judge after 3 in a row.

He's shown he has decent control, decent pace and has scored decent amounts in euro leagues. He has a good leap and in time will get stronger. He's only 22 remember. What makes you say ‘he’ll be a top player’? I haven’t seen anything in him to suggest this is a certainty tbh.
He looked shocking in pre-season too. He looks no better than Simms, Chermiti (when he played CF). He even looks half asleep, no getup and go. I’m confident enough in what I’ve seen to say he won’t be starting 50 games in his Everton career. He’s played 142 minutes of Premier League Football.
I was looking the other day at Everton top scorers since we last won the league. Only 7 or 8 times has the top score had 15 or more goals in the season. Thats 40 years and seems poor to be honest. Can’t see that changing anytime soon eitherThere's just not many strikers around that can whallop them in consistently. And those that can go for £60m+ or are only interested in Europe qualified teams.
There seems a real drop off in ability below elite strikers. There's not a great deal inbetween for your money. Hence having to buy younger/raw strikers and hope they develop. Quickly.
I just don't feel anywhere near the same confidence with Barry as say when we first signed Lukaku though - you could see instantly how good he was and how he lifted the whole team/raised the profile. You pay £30m you expect to see a player offer something immediately, not just glimpses or basics done ok. Like Grealish has. Instant impact.
I get your point, but is £30m in this day and age really a big fee? The RS have just spent £200m on two elite level strikers because that's the price now. Even the "gambles" like Gyokeres/Sesko/Woltemade are £70-80m, so £30m really only gets you an unproven young striker these days. There's just not many strikers around that can whallop them in consistently. Yep I was comparing completely different levels of player with Grealish. Just making a point that is the level of impact we need with a new player. And agree £30m is peanuts these days, but Lukaku was still considered potential at the time really. Ahead of Barry, yes. But potential that was real quality and made a big difference straight away. I suppose I'm just trying to say potential these days seems a really low skill level/very raw player unless you shell out huge amounts.I get your point, but is £30m in this day and age really a big fee? Lukaku wasn't the unknown or unproven striker that Barry is, although it is unfair to compare Barry to Grealish. One is a £100m senior player that was a key part of a superb, all-conquering, treble winning team not so long ago with years of Prem experience under his belt, and Barry has just come in from a decent-ish Spanish team from a decent-ish league. Grealish bringing quality and impact should be a given from the get go.
Yeah I get ya. "potential" and "ceiling" seem to be buzzwords attributed to anyone under the age of about 22 these days. TBF he has a decent record at his previous clubs, so you'd think there must be something there to work with until we can get a proven talent in for megabucks. Last thing we need is another Chermiti for twice the price.Yep I was comparing completely different levels of player with Grealish. ...Just play well and score some goals Barry!
I think that`s what it looks like we got. The lad needs to harden up a bit and get use to a lot of physical challenges.Yeah I get ya. Why didn't any Premier League teams go in for Mikautadze then? Villarreal aren't exactly the force they used to be so if he was that good you'd think he'd have a higher level of suitor? I think you're too quick to judge Barry as you need to give players time to acclimatise. As for South America again if there's a top line striker over there he'll end up in Spain or Portugal most likely as apart from Brighton no other Premier League teams find gems from thereCan play anywhere across the front 3, the wolves guy scored against us and scored over 20 last season in Belgium, Barry has done sod all so far. There are a raft of strikers in South America we could have gone for. We are just not very good at the recruitment thing no matter who is in charge imo.
Evanilson at Bournemouth cost £40m and he knows where the back of the net is, Igor Jesus that Forest brought in, albeit hasn't scored yet but he looks a decent player, Forest have a number of decent Brazilian players. Comes down to scouting in the end and we always seem to limit the market we look in because we want proven players all the time and won't take risks which usually means you miss the gems. Barry needs a run of games, but I don't think the signs look great so far, we will see, hopefully he comes good. Why didn't any Premier League teams go in for Mikautadze then? Evanilson was signed from Porto and he was out of our price range at the time. Igor Jesus has a bang average goal record in Brazilian football so we'd be crying out about bad recruitment if we signed him let's be honestEvanilson at Bournemouth cost £40m and he knows where the back of the net is, Igor Jesus that Forest brought in, albeit hasn't scored yet but he looks a decent player, Forest have a number of decent Brazilian players. Igor Jesus seems to be knocking them in tonight just fine mate. There is a whole world of players out there to pick from, something this club never seems to get its head around. Until he scores regularly in the Premier League you can't say we've missed out. Also you don't know where our scouts are scouting so you're just speculating. You also have to remember it's Moyes and not the scouts who has the final say on who signs so as far as we know our scouts might be recommending players from South America and Moyes has said no to themIgor Jesus seems to be knocking them in tonight just fine mate. True but he is a player who has been rated for a while but I do agree with your point, and that also applies to Barry or anyone else for that matter. I have no doubt Moyes has probably turned a number of players down, it's no secret how fussy he can be in the market, every blue knows that.Until he scores regularly in the Premier League you can't say we've missed out.
