Barry will come good and we will have a 65/70m striker. We couldn’t afford to buy one this summer for that money and leave the rest of the team derelict.

Have to say that coming on here and saying with a straight face that instead of Barry we should have signed 32 year old Paco Alcacer from the UAE Pro League, where for the last three seasons he has averaged 11 appearances and 3 goals, and prior to that he scored the same amount of goals in two seasons as Barry did in one season at the same club...is one of the most brazenly unhinged things I've ever read on this forum.

He’s not had one clear cut chance yet. A goal or two against the lesser teams will no doubt push him on. He’s a million times better than Beto at holding up and linking the play. He just needs a goal.

Repeating myself, but he's a better footballer than Beto and he makes the team function better when he's on the pitch.

Had Harrison Armstrong squared one to him for a tap in instead of shooting in the cup, as he did for Beto half an hour later, he'd have a goal and the narrative would be completely different. If we want to progress as a team, Barry needs to be starting more often than not.

Needs a run of games, not stopping and starting the odd 20 minutes here and there.
I've a feeling he will turn into a good'n once that first goal goes in, needs confidence.

So in your world Beto is a accomplished footballer. Great hold up play, dominant in the air and takes a wicked free kick. He should be playing for Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund...oh wait.

I agree that theres some overated strikers especially who have come from abroad. Namely Hojland and looks this minute like Sesko also, both at £70m +. Not scouted thoroughly to systems OR can't hack it in the Prem. But surely we could have done better than Beto and Barry to lead the line for goals. As for Delap - Am not convinced.

Let's wait to see Barry's first Prem goal this season...and wait...and wait.
But you never know the players might let him take a Pen. Oh and by the way even though off topic for this thread I was suggesting Alcácer over Beto. But at the moment there are several Champions strikers who do a better more effective job than Barry.
