2025/26 Thierno Barry

I think that's really harsh and in some ways just plain wrong. I think it's fair to say that he doesn't exactly look like a worldbeater at the moment but if you were expecting that from him you weren't really living in the real world. I think he's shown some good touches, nice passes, and good awareness of space, I don't think he's looked hugely dangerous or dynamic in his games so far but it's the middle of September ffs. If we're having the same conversation after he's played another 5 or 6 games then there'll be a bit more merit to it but at this point it's just embarrassing to be writing him off.
Where did I say I was expecting a world beater? I said I expect professional players to do basics really well and build off of that. Literally nowhere have I said anything about writing him off. In fact I’ve literally said in that post that it’s too early to do so while still acknowledging that he’s so far failed to impress…which he has. Calm down.

Well my original point was about people writing him off and you basically said you could see why they were, so if anyone needs to calm down it’s probably you I reckon.

You said it's too early to have formed any opinion. I shared why I think some have.

Agree completely

People need to stop doing Moise Kean mkII with this lad, give him and all the new signings a proper chance ffs.

surely its okay to form an initial opinion? We do it in all walks of.life - first impressions. They can and probably will change but to me this board is the same as sharing a view with the lad next to you at the match. Ups and downs. Eg when we had Unsworth playing for us I must have cursed him a hundred times a match when he failed to control the ball or misplaced a simple pass but then jumped up applauding when he put an opponent into a heap on the ground after a solid challenge. Likewise Gravesen or Anichebe etc

I think there’s a big difference between first impressions and forming an opinion to be honest, and it’s fairly obvious that some people are not just talking about their first impressions.

Saying ‘I’ve not been overly impressed with him so far but it’s early days’ is fine, I’d say the same. Saying ‘he’s a dud’ is very obviously a different thing.

Sadly, this.

Football fans as a whole are prone to snap judgements, but evertonians can be particularly trigger happy when writing players off.

I want to see where they are after a season, and with significant minutes on the pitch, not just 15-20 off the bench once a week.

I'll right him off for ya! Won't make it in the Prem Lge. To fast for him and has'nt got a Strikers brain same as Beto and Moyes knows it.
