2025/26 Thierno Barry

Barry is definitely one of three reasons we lost the game. He missed an absolutely sitter and his all round game was terrible throughout. A few 5 yard passes doesn't change that.

We can't go into next season with him as our first choice striker. It's a miracle we're as high as we are in the league with that being the case this time around.
It does when your other option is Beto who can't make those passes. We lose all control of the ball in the final third when he comes on, at a moment in the game where we need to slow it down and keep the ball.

I want us to sign another striker in summer but until then, we stick with Barry as our starter.

As for the reasons we lost this game - yh he missed a sitter. You won't see me deny that. But as I said we had one fullback sent off, and another give a goal away. Meanwhile their two fullbacks were their two best players. Doesn’t mean Barry didn't have a bad game, but I'm not going to hold him responsible for us losing considering the context of what I've just said.

Is he still sat in the stadium with his head under his shirt?

He knew full well we lost tonight because of his finishing.

Was quite alarming to see none of the bench comforting him. Least he feels something, I guess.

Tough love needed perhaps?

thats not what i am seeing
he’s key to
how moyes wants us to play as we evolve

but theres clearly a lot of room for improvement
When he goes deeper with no defender on his back he’s able to be involved. But that is not a hard part of the game. True, Beto can’t do it. But that’s not what i’m pointing to. With a man on his back the ball is lost.

I miss the days of Lukaku, Yakubu and DCL in that part of the game. (In all other parts og the game as well)

Probably the guy who rejected Haaland when he had a trial
