Is getting the odd goal here and there a striker coming good though? That seems more law of averages than actually doing a job.

To give him some credit, his hold up play is improving but he doesn’t seem close at all to actually scoring a goal.

I just meant I think he'll improve his all-round play in general, rather than ending up like Neal Maupay, or that Sandro(?) guy that we had, for example. It would be brilliant if everything just clicked for Barry, and he started banging in the goals for us.

Oh absolutely but he isn’t showing many signs that he is the man we need.

Don't know if my maths is off, but Sandro Ramírez went 45 appearances without a goal, and then went on to make it 11 goals in 118 appearances

xG needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it certainly aligns with what we’ve seen. With 6 more goals- even with 3 or 4 more goals, in the right spots- we’re in a Europe spot.

I judge strikers on their ability to put the ball in the back of the net first and foremost.

Well they're often marked by two defenders at all times now.

I think there's something to be said about it being easier to find your own space to score loads if there's a strike partner occupying another defender.

So often these days it's one lad static in the box while people move around him.

Really? He looks so uncomfortable running with the ball, wouldn’t fill me with confidence.
