2025/26 Thierno Barry

Took him time to acclimatise in his last two moves. Think he’ll start to come good around Xmas when he’s up to the pace of the game. He’s made huge leaps in his career so far, this is easily the biggest.

I’m feeling less confident than I was two weeks ago though, you need to graft first and foremost.

Great example is Mateta for Palace today though, he looked like a raffle winner for two years and now United are chasing him and he’s in the French team.

He's 23 in a couple of weeks and some make out he's a teenager. Every one of us could name at least 20 players in the league that are younger than him that are miles better.

"Give him time to adapt" - trapping a ball, passing accurately, and making contact with a cross are all fundamentals of football. Nothing to do with the leagues he has played in or his age. He's not good enough and never will be.

Hope he gets up to speed soon, but his attitude on the pitch doesn’t help. I’d say maybe we need to play to his strengths, but being brutally honest, even at this early stage, I’m struggling to see what he’s good at. It’s a 50/50 ratio with La Liga strikers — for every Agüero, Isak, and Torres, there’s been a Soldado, Morientes, or Forlán. Bundesliga forwards have generally struggled too, but Woltemade has looked fantastic for Newcastle so far, bagging his fourth today. Sadly, he was out of our price range.
Our recruitment of cfs since Lukaku has been shocking
