Transfer Rumour Thierno Barry

Everton signing a young striker from La Liga who scored double figures in his first season for his new club, but having to wait for him to come back from the U21 tournament:

It’s 2017 again lads

That highlights vid isn't the best (?). I'm getting Doucoure vibes with a sprinkling of Beto with some of those touches... and the studious cuts after he takes a shot are a bit suspect. I suppose he is young so the amount of good things to show are probably more limited. But 40 mill seems a bit steep.

Every player we’ve signed has also had their own transfer thread so no panic.

….i must post my spreadsheet, 99.25% of player transfer threads opened in the last 8 years have not resulted in a signing. The best outcomes are threads opened within 10 days of the player signing. If this lad hasn’t signed in the next 10 days, forget it.

As for the worst posters suffering from premature speculation, @Moomin easily tops the list

It’s absolutely factual & I have detailed evidence to back it up :drunk:

Forward signings are the biggest gamble. There is probably an extra 25% on the fee here, with him in La Liga.

I wouldn't go above £30m but this is the market we're in. If we were signing from Holland or Belgium then the fee is lower but the risk higher.

If we want someone to come in and lead the line then it's a gamble we will have to try and take I think. The negotiations are important here in giving us maximum leeway for other signings too.

I like his height and he has a decent record over a relatively small number of games. That might mean nothing but in general I like a big lad up front.

Every signing is a gamble, especially a young lad from another league. He could be a Sandro or he could be a Lukaku. Looks equally happy left or right but hardly seems to play down the middle from that Youtube selection. Whomever comes in needs a season to adjust.

For reference, Ademola Lookman and Moise Kean both doing absolutely fine after a few seasons settled into a team....sadly not Everton.
