Look for a progressive manager, we had that in Martinez.
He invested time and effort in the Acadamy
Footballing blue print was introduced at all playing levels
Strange we got rid of a manager who got us to two semi finals and this still wasn't good enough.
The problem we have now is no manager will be given time to be progressive, as we have a percentage of the fan base who think we should be winning silverware and signing Messi type players.
Patience is needed but we know that isn't going to happen
Top half with better football and a run in the cups. That surely cant be too much to ask for?

Silva for one. Tuchel is still out there. Flores if he doesn't take the Stoke job. It wont be hard to find a better manager than Allardyce, tbh.
They won't be looking. Get on the gravy train. Stopping at a station near you sometime soon. Sam will be signing a contract extension this time next year.

Course he will. Everyone is queuing up to give Allardyce a long term deal....oh no they aren't are they?

Front four of

Tosun
Bolasie Gylfi Walcott

Sounds decent to be fair. Wayne at CM with Gana, smash most teams that.

An unproven player up front, a 32 year old playing in a midfield two, a winger that hardly ever scores and another who has very little impact in games away from home. All kinds of leaps of faith being made here.

I do admire the optimism but give me Barkley and Lukaku back all day.

I just can't see this happening.

If Steve Walsh manages to pull this one off, i'll take my hat off to him.

If all the rumours about Sanchez and Ozil possibly leaving this window, surely Theo would be a shoe in to play regularly at Arsenal.

I will be well impressed if decides his future lies with us, but i just can't see it happening, hope i'm wrong tho.

The fact he isn't tells you all you need to know.

Barkley and Lukaku couldn’t wait to leave. I’d rather have players with determination to play well for us.

I don't know if Walcott is the right guy for us but he may turn out to be good! The jury is out as far as I'm concerned but I'm happy to give him a go. I'm not over excited by the prospect. However, what you said about not attracting the best players because they want to go to a top six side-I totally agree with you. I think one way to counteract this problem would be to pay big bucks for a top manager. If you get a good one then they can sometimes attract the better players. Some people might say that we can't attract some of the top managers but I know in life that money can open doors. I am just not convinced with Big Sam and we are building a team partly around his ideas. I hope we get a new manager in and ready for next season. Big Sam has done ok but I want us to be pushing for a top 4 spot. We will never do this with him.

Yeh,he is a safety first manager, NOT what you want to try and break the top 6

There are better managers than the ones you name, Dave. But the problem is attracting who ever to come to Everton and stay with us for a few years. You mention Silva but Watford seem to have gone backwards so not sure on that one. Notice no Simeone mentioned do you not rate him?

Back to the topic, Walcott could well be very useful, who makes way for him though in the line up? As I understand it, his problem at Arsenal was game time.

They couldn't wait to leave because they didn't think this club had the ability to deliver what they wanted. I don't think the players we have now are determined to play for us, they're here because we're the best they can do and we've inflated their bank balance nicely.

Do not seem to want much Dave. I want us up there in top four for season after season ad infinitum. For me a cup run is well okay but not worth much unless one lifts the cup at the end of it. I suppose I want too much but I can wait for a wee while.
