It's the one type of player we will generally always miss out on. They're pretty rare, and they get snapped up by teams who can afford them. Our only hope is that our scouting network finds value where nobody else has.

Everton's X Factor player:

in a dream world we would have depay on the left wing and konoplyanka on the right wing and keep mirallas as a striker interchanging with depay but thats in a dream world and everton dont do dream worlds.

Someone like this guy, when he could still take a set piece would be nice right about now.

Remember when we actually used to beat the likes of Hull!

I can see all our wingers leaving bar McGeady, so we'll need to sign at least 3 in the summer just to stay where we are.

I'd go for:

Someone top class like Depay/Yarmolenko (however unrealistic they may be)
Deulofeu
Lennon - but not for the £7m Spurs supposedly want
Keep McGeady as 4th choice

However since Martinez only ever plays one winger at a time he'll probably sign Lennon and Cleverley and that will be that

Who ever we get they must be goal scoring wide players
We have had far to many wide players over the last few years who don't score goals
Putting so much pressure on our strikers
I suppose that's what you get when your buying cheap wide players

The only reason why 7 million could be considered too much in respect of Aaron Lennon, is because he will only have 12 months left on his contract at Spurs in June. Otherwise, I would consider 7 million pound to represent extremely good value for a player like Lennon.

If Everton don't sign him, then somebody else like Stoke will. Stoke will be better off for it, and we will end up persisting with Osman and McGeady on the wings, resulting in the likes of Stoke finishing above Everton, again.

Unfortunately it depends alot on what other teams above us buy. For Example is Barcelona buy a big name wide player (also taking into consideration the ban) then Gerard may just want out. Teams like Everton rely on big teams buying players and us taking their 2nd choice players, see Costa/Lukaku, Song/Barry (west ham rumours), M'baye Niang of Milan chose them over us when milan struggled to attract top players. A huge bonus for me is for Mirallas to stay and sign lennon, ship injury prone players like Pienaar out.

Remember when Moyes said that we needed an 'X-factor' type player like Arshavin when he was at Zenit? He was talking about the player that could step up that extra gear to win games for us.

At the moment we have Barkley and Lukaku as the attacking central midfielder and the striker and yet most of our play falls down because we don't have consistent top wingers to bring in assists and goals themselves -- the opposition sees this and can focus on nullifying the above two players as well as our full-backs knowing that we have no threat from the wings.

Ignoring players like Naismith and Osman who have been shoehorned there, we currently have;

Mirallas - Open secret that he's off
McGeady - A lot of us were shocked at this signing, why did Martinez sign him? Dropped now!
Pienaar - Seems to be finished
Atsu - Waste of a loan
Lennon - Lots of energy but never a top winger

For me, I think we need to punt them all this summer, perhaps we could manage 15mil for Mirallas and McGeady and Pienaar on a free to save wages with the other two back to their clubs.

That would leave us with no wingers and while it's a bit FM that's still a realistic position for the summer. Additionally Martinez has said he wants his wingers to be free to attack with limited defensive duties which fits with the idea of having purely attack minded wingers and he has FIVE of these players on the books so it seems as though he wants to play with 2 wingers but just hasn't got good enough players.

So, bearing in mind these types of players are expensive what will he aim for this summer and will he add in this X-Factor type player or even two?
Get on louis Walsh here

Deulofeu isn't the answer.

Can't cut the mustard at Sevilla either, so Barca won't want him either, and he won't wanna be playing in the third tier. But still isn't the answer.

Mirallas should have been this player. Has as much talent as anyone but only turns up 1 in 4. I'd rip your arm off for a 23 year old Arteta. One of those players where as soon as he took his first touch you just knew he'd be class.

And we have quite a few of them mate

hamstring only shows up 1 in 4. don't get this thought going around that he's never arsed, plenty of games where he seems like one of the only players who cares (like at the RS last year), people slight him for the peno incident but he obviously thought he would slot it and help us win.
