Really liked that Yarmalenko but it's falling into the trap of signing players who played boss against us but probably won't work in the real world. Lots of examples on that front like.

He was ace though. And we need that type of invention with Pienaar coming to an end.

Yeah, I still remember Stuart Slater tearing us a new one in the cup. Glad I wasn't our manager, as I'd have broken our transfer record to bring him in after that game.

- we have no idea how much he's cost and we are perennially skint
- he will have lots of options should Barca even want to sell him. Some a lot more attractive than us currently.
- Martinez has already said its massively unlikely. Although I appreciate we take his words with a pinch of salt.
- Barca can't buy people. And although Deulofeu is nowhere near their first team they can't even bulk their squad with reserves. He'd be a decent reserve.

Do I need to go on?

No, but a valid reason might help.
The EPL is the richest in the World and we are in the top 10 earners in it. We just spent £28M on a striker who everyone said there was little chance we could get. Who are the more attractive clubs than us who have or would show an interest? What price do you anticipate he would cost? I can't see any more than £10-12M as he's a young reserve player with limited first team experience who hasn't slotted in very well at his Spanish loan club. He came to Everton once, when presumably by your argument he would have had a lot of options.

Good chance Barça will line up signings for January 2016. Which makes me think they may keep hold of Gerry till then. Depending how much playing time he has there and how he takes advantage of it he'll stay or be off in January at the latest.

Serious question ( as without looking at Wiki I don't know the answer).... How many minutes has he played for Barca's first team? If it's as low as I think why would they rely on him now when he's well down the pecking order.

Why are you being so aggro when I've admitted both sides of the argument are equally as valid?!

Because he's still a kid.

Sorry mate, didn't mean it to sound aggro....just trying to support the notion that we've got as good a chance as anyone of signing Delofeu. Whether we do is a different matter altogether, but we are as handily placed as most to sign him.

No worries.

I totally agree that him having had time here puts us one up.

But that's even if we want him.

I think I read that he doesn't want to return to England though. But can't remember where so might have dreamt it!

He's playing hard to get....bit like an ex-girlfriend. He'll succumb.

I'd need to look at wiki myself to know his stats but lets say it's far less than he played for us last season. So with him not playing much for Sevilla, I'm pretty sure they won't be relying on him. However with their ban in place till jan 2016 and Pedro rumoured to be wanting out, they may keep him on as back up till they can bring someone in. Just speculation on my part but trying to keep it on a logical level.

Need a lot of positions coming in. Wingers, CB, GK number 10, back up RB. Board need to step up

If we really want an X factor player (the type other teams worry about) we should be looking to sign the likes of Konoplyanka,
not blessed with devastating speed but makes things happen , scores a few as well, top quality player.
Sad when people are willing to accept the likes of Cleverly when theres players like this available.
