Sky money means it isn't a great stretch to think we could afford him + Mirallas likely off
Which options would he have? He's tried Seville and it's not worked out, he knows he would have game time
Martinez probably expected Deulofeu to have been starting games at Barca/elsewhere
If he's not in first team for Barca then he's halting someone elses progress

I think we have a very good chance with the SKY money...

- we have no idea how much he's cost and we are perennially skint
- he will have lots of options should Barca even want to sell him. Some a lot more attractive than us currently.
- Martinez has already said its massively unlikely. Although I appreciate we take his words with a pinch of salt.
- Barca can't buy people. And although Deulofeu is nowhere near their first team they can't even bulk their squad with reserves. He'd be a decent reserve.

Do I need to go on?

As i said in the earlier message mate, there are reasons why we might get him. But it's important to understand that there are also some that we won't.

Cabaye is quality, imagine actually having him and Barkley rotating in centre mid alongside McCarthy/Besic.

That would be phenomenal.

However I think we wouldn't have the cash left if we go for quality on the flanks. Also I imagine he would go to Arsenal?

We can sort our wingers out through signing Lennon for a measely 7 million, and then signing one of Ayew or Konoplyanka on a free. However I very much agree that we require a player with the so-called 'X-Factor', but I think this player needs to be in central midfield. Because no matter how much you are in love with McCarthy, Barry or Besic (and some people actually are in love with them), they do not possess anywhere near the levels of creativity that are required by the central midfielders within top Premier League teams.

We need a player like Yohan Cabaye to create and score goals in the middle of the park. He will come quite cheap, around the 10-15 million pound mark, and he would make a great difference to a club like Everton. I know Cabaye allegedly abused a ball boy during a game at Goodison, but that won't stop the likes of Arsenal, or other top clubs going for him, and it shouldn't stop us either.

Who knows? He will definitely leave PSG, and he gave an interview saying he wants game time ahead of Euro 2016. He would certainly do well here, but I concede that it may be unlikely, but he is the type of player we lack.

Yarmalenko would be my number 1 realistic target. We won't get Konoplyanka we NEVER get a boss player in on a free transfer, the amount of players like Honda who used to be available for free/cheap that our fans always raved for but ended up at your Milans/Romas etc. Are endless

There's something about Deulofeu's game style that reeks terribly of McGeady, at least from what I've seen of him. So even if we get him, I'm not sure how much he'll deliver. If so far during loans he's been struggling to prove himself, a stable transfer to Everton might cut off some of his fuel. I'd personally look to a mid-aged winger who's been playing in Barclay's for a good 2-3 years. I'm not sure who, since I've no experience with the other teams' lots, but signing Lennon looks like a good choice to me.

Remember when Moyes said that we needed an 'X-factor' type player like Arshavin when he was at Zenit? He was talking about the player that could step up that extra gear to win games for us.

At the moment we have Barkley and Lukaku as the attacking central midfielder and the striker and yet most of our play falls down because we don't have consistent top wingers to bring in assists and goals themselves -- the opposition sees this and can focus on nullifying the above two players as well as our full-backs knowing that we have no threat from the wings.

Ignoring players like Naismith and Osman who have been shoehorned there, we currently have;

Mirallas - Open secret that he's off
McGeady - A lot of us were shocked at this signing, why did Martinez sign him? Dropped now!
Pienaar - Seems to be finished
Atsu - Waste of a loan
Lennon - Lots of energy but never a top winger

For me, I think we need to punt them all this summer, perhaps we could manage 15mil for Mirallas and McGeady and Pienaar on a free to save wages with the other two back to their clubs.

That would leave us with no wingers and while it's a bit FM that's still a realistic position for the summer. Additionally Martinez has said he wants his wingers to be free to attack with limited defensive duties which fits with the idea of having purely attack minded wingers and he has FIVE of these players on the books so it seems as though he wants to play with 2 wingers but just hasn't got good enough players.

So, bearing in mind these types of players are expensive what will he aim for this summer and will he add in this X-Factor type player or even two?
I honestly didn't see this thread until I just posted my points about the younger generation and their XFACTOR cringe behaviour.

Here's a perfect example.

Please stop supporting Everton as I hate that you and I share the same team, never mind anything else.

Are you trying to tell me that Naismith and alcaraz aren't boss players?

Really liked that Yarmalenko but it's falling into the trap of signing players who played boss against us but probably won't work in the real world. Lots of examples on that front like.

He was ace though. And we need that type of invention with Pienaar coming to an end.
