It's probably very hard to understand and explain but there are a lot of people who ride his train. Not just racists and pychopaths and grifters but real people. Take our longtime GOT friend Tex--he cuts an outsized caricature but he's not far from the normal resident of a red state (and I've lived in 2 of them). Many see Biden as a bad president pushing unwelcome agendas. Many see Trump as a plain dealer, breath of fresh air common sense type (this is why he says the things he says.) A few years ago there were "hold your nose and vote for Trump" types, as if he was a passing ship and the conservative agenda is what must be maintained, but most of that has gone. Many people see him as the good guy. At best it's the sort of thing where you hold two conflicting ideas at the same time and you're ok that they don't fit; maybe they're delusional but not as simple as calling them crazy.
