I dont like doing this, but its pretty standard to be asked if you are pregnant by a Dr when they are giving you tablets or a scan.

Its happened to me a number of times, its normally said with a smile on their face, but it does happen.

All presumably part of the speech where they ask if you smoke/drink/do drugs?

Doubt it will result in many surprises but generally “better safe than sorry“ seems a wise approach when getting a medical history.

Personally would think there are more important issues to resolve with the NHS that picking this particular one to get upset about.

Ive got the dentist next week, she is ruthless, im there about 10minutes and all she does in that time is tell me to quit smoking.

Pretty much the same when I visit mine, unless I’m unfortunate enough to have to see the hygienist which usually leaves me looking like a torture victim

Should I be outraged at this, or should I just tick the box that says no? Seems like an obvious answer.

Long term smokers have a different natural immune system to non smokers, so if you are in hospital for any length of time, your smoking immune system will quickly fail, leaving your natural, (and unused) natural immune system a bit lazy. Ergo, you may need more medical intervention.

Similar with drinkers. As the alcohol in your blood eases, you will have a far different reaction to delerium, again, different medical intervention(s).
