The Watford Got Relegated Thread

They’ll probably cry foul with Bournemouth about Villa staying up because of a goal not given in a game 5 1/2 weeks ago but facts are Villa took 10 points from their final 4 games, Watford conceded 10 in their last 3 after getting into a position where they looked like pulling clear and Bournemouth only won 2 games since beating Villa in February. That’s why Villa survived

If the goal had been given like it should have been, they still would have gone down.

Meh. But getting rid of Pearson was just shooting themselves in the foot. I try not to wish anyone relegation after our flirtation with it in the 90s and believe that you get enough chances to get out of trouble over a season unless you were absolutely useless.

Watford should have had enough to get them out of trouble as shown by Pearson before the asterisk part of the season. But it's very rare to see a club from the owners to the fans and players and everyone involved conspire to fall at the final hurdle.

What's a big club mentality? The mentality to get over the line when it comes to the crunch. Villa showed that yesterday. Bournemouth did to a certain extent. Watford did not. I wouldn't be surprised if they came back up straight away or if it took them 10 seasons or even went into free fall with their owners.

Time for me to switch off any attention to them. They ain't in our league any more.

They're so unlikable as a club that I'm struggling to feel sympathy

As opposed to empty seats M'lord Villa, scummy Leeds & deluded world cup winners the hammers?

I think some people have some weird love in for any club deemed "big" whilst laughing at clubs like Watford & Bournemouth who have made a go of it for a club of their size/stature.

Their owners are mentalists but I dont get the hatred some have for them.

I can't remember the last time I went to a game at Villa and there were empty seats

Even in 2016 when they were so bad that even us under Martinez could give them a kicking the stadium was still full

And Watford's owners are world champions when it comes to being horrible. Plus, you know, their fans are tits

I would say their fans are alright in comparison to Leeds fans who are desperate to have a go any away day at their place.

Yet because Sky Sports tell people they are a big club some get all misty eyed and would rather them in the league than sides like Brighton and Bournemouth who's fans are largely alright.

Bournemouth fans are pretty much fine from my experience, but getting to their ground is a long away trip whilst Leeds and West Brom are much easier to get to. Ditto for Norwich. No real animosity on my end but as an away day it's a pain in the arse whilst getting somewhere like Villa is a lot easier and a much nicer stadium to boot

Watford fans are absolute helmets of the highest order, both online and in person, with the odd exception
