Only 1lb difference in weight. Height difference was immense. Overinflated ego and no eye of the tiger like the last fight need mentioning too.
It's the fact McGregor went from 150 (or was it less?) to 170 (well, 168) just for this fight, because "he can fight at any weight".

He wasn't as strong as he thought, it seems.

Well McGregor isn't for this weight at all.

Anyway,

Excuses already like?

Think you'll find it's not Diaz's weight class either, and that McGregor stepped into the ring vs Aldo at roughly the same weight.

the myth that mcgregor went up two weights is a myth, Diaz is a natural lightweight they only fought at welterweight because Diaz took the fight at 11 days notice and couldn't get down to lightweight

Not really, I rooted for someone because I enjoy their personality, hardly fan number one me. I even hate Sinead O'Connor's music that's played before he comes on.

I really admire how Diaz basically got out of bed, went to the gym for a week and beat McGregor's ego though.

To move up from featherweight to lightweight and then welter is 10-15 pounds in the difference. No way is McGregor strong enough at that level, could see the fatigue straight away after the 2nd clinch and the left hand that stunned him.

Only mma fans allowed to watch UFC then mate yeah? Dem the rules then ?

Not arsed about that, but people who only know of Mcgregor and spout around social media like their Dana White despite only tuning in to watch that ginger weapon fight

Maybe not everyone does that though mate, considered that?

I don't live and breathe UFC, so I might not know everything/as much as you, but I do follow it as much as time allows me, and it's quite silly to just paint everyone with the same brush because they picked a fighter in a single (overhyped) match.

In which case it doesn't apply to those people, what I'm saying only applies to those who it fits. Simple really

That's fair enough but he's what is known as a cross over star, same as Joshua in boxing . He brings the casual fan to your sport and though lots of them can be bells it helps grow the sport . Match room and sky tv in particular boxings product is based on them .

For years I couldn't give a crap about UFC as I follow enough sports as it is and is hard to keep up with them . I only watched UFC because of Rousey and McGregor myself . But because of these my interest in the sport has grown from zero to a casual fan as I've seen a few decent fights on the undercard of CM and RR and will now take a bit more notice .

Without that type of fan you wouldn't get to watch much of your sport as its the casuals who keep it mainstream and on tv .

Weight cutting doesn't work like that though mate.

Take the McGregor/Aldo fight for example, the 2 of them live normally between 160/170lbs. Then in the days before the weigh in they begin to start cutting out any excess weight, so fat and water etc. by effectively starving themselves. But as long as their on weight (145) on the scales at he weigh in, they'll both go straight go back up to their normal weight, so Conor is no bigger than he was stepping into the cage vs Aldo
