The UFC and Mixed Martial Arts Thread

There was a girl in my BJJ class for a while, good lawd. I'd roll with her every session because she was fit and her hair smelled beautiful.

Then one day after I'd gone easy on her for weeks she made a joke about how she was better than me so I tapped her about 7 times in a minute. Rolled her right up.

No games.
Lad I'd step through you like a flimsy door.

Please explain?

Hot story by the way... :whip:

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, basically the reason the UFC was made and the most common ground fighting system used in MMA.

Carlos and Helio Gracie adopted an altered version of the traditional martial art and developed it, with almost their entire family learning it and it being passed on to every newborn. Royce Gracie entered the first UFC when it was style vs style and just battered everyone despite being probably the smallest man in the competition. It was set up at least in part by Rorion Gracie to display how effective BJJ is.

Google the Gracie family, they're surely the hardest family on the planet. Renner, Rickson, Renzo, Kron, Kyra, Royler, Royce, The Machados etc. are all serious, serious martial artists.

I'm actually familiar with it. For some reason I abe BJs springing to mind reading that hot story.

McGregor will surely be a bit slower with all the extra weight?? his style till now has always been about timing and speed. the extra weight will be a leveller in this contest.

I can see it going the distance with McGregor struggling but winning on points.

Diaz isnt top notch fighter...this match smells. They are just paving way for McG.
There was a lot tougher opponents out there willing to fight McG

Royce was certainly effective, but good lord was it boring........cagey pot shots........go in....go to ground. Two guys then lay, cuddling for 3-4 minutes then Royce's opponent taps out and all the spectators were like "what just happened.....why's it over????"

It almost killed the UFC didn't it because NO BUGGER WAS WATCHING IT BECAUSE IT WAS BORING AS HELL!!!! Until Whitey stepped in and turned it all around.

Big step up in weight divisions for Conor. Diaz is a dangerous fighter. I'm a McGregor man myself but this one is weird to predict.

I agree completely. People are underestimating Diaz. He isn't here for the show, he is just a fighter. Got an enormous height advantage also, think this could be an upset.

Going to go Diaz, submission, second round.

Hope not like.

Diaz's height and reach advantage will make it hard for Conor to hit him. That's assuming Nate is in top condition of course as he is filling in under shortish notice.
If it goes to the ground Nate wins. If Conor connects and hurts Nate he'll go after him in a flurry of punches which should stop him.
Just so many unconventional factors in this one with Conor going up to 170lbs from 145lbs.
Could last a minute or go 5 rounds.
Who knows??
