Not a chance Diaz or Cerrone make 155, by the way. And Edgar's injured according to Ariel Helwani.

Be very interesting if Ferguson or Nurmagamedov could step in, but I suppose that throws the entire division into confusion.

I have a feeling he will just call it - I don't think its the same as when Aldo when Mendes came in. Right now no-one can offer him what he wants which was another belt to go for to make history. Don't really see anything for him, he can't drop the weight in time for Edgar who is unavailable anyways - for giggles id like to see Diaz, but again just don't see any reason for McGregor to go for it.

Is Nurmagamendov actually not injured now?

Nate Diaz I think the talk was. Not Nick. Nate could possibly make 155. Nick would need loads more time to ensure he was clean.

Aye I know mate, mostly stemming from his interview after the Johnson fight. Nick's still banned.

I think so too. Arguably the smart thing to do would be to swerve it and look for RDA/Lawler at 200. But then I think McGregor genuinely does love to fight, so who knows.

I agree I think they'll pull him and wait for 200. Nothing else provides the same motivation and is just a big risk on Conor's part.

Yep - I think he will swerve it, he loves to fight and make money. Like you say, best thing to do would be to look for one of them two at 200 - McGregor always keeps people on their toes so who knows what hell do.

Card would look very poor without McGregor. Holm vs Tate can't main event a PPV with such an average undercard. I think there'll be a lot of pressure from the UFC on McGregor to fight someone.

It's a weird one really. They've already scrapped one PPV and made this 196 instead of 197 due to injury. ideally they'd pull in another 155'er to give him a fight to maintain the PPV status. But they then run the very real risk that Conor could lose and the big money of the RDA and possibly Lawler fight is gone.

Conor loses to RDA people will just say he tried, and he'll still be a beast at 145. If he loses to a lesser fighter people will say he was over rated and his appeal wont be the same.

It's a gamble. They should scrap it, move Conor to 200, and change the card to a fight night, because as you say it's very poor without that main.

Although Conor may want to fight to keep the travelling Irish happy, which poses other questions of them.

As you say though they already moved the Hendricks Thompson fight to PPV, surely making this one too would ruin their plans for 200 to be on July the 8th.

That's a good point, I think it's only happened once before when a card got scrapped completely and they didn't use the number. When Jones wouldn't fight Chael on short notice after Hendo pulled out. Writing that just brought back memories of Jones' foot, if Chael had have survived that round, he'd have been Champ!

I wonder what the stats are for fighters pulling out of big fights. I honestly don't remember it from the earlier days of MMA, but it seems to happen all the time now.

Aye I remember that, Dana was not a happy baldy.

Jesus Christ it was bad. But Uriah Hall did something similar a while back and won by knockout with the same foot, can't remember who it was against. Not on the same level though, Jones' foot still makes me shudder. Have you seen the gif/video zoomed in on it breaking?

No not seen it close up, to be honest when they showed it in the cage after Rogan pointed it out, that was bad enough. 'Let's get this man a stool'.

I remember that Hall fight, his was broken and mishaped, Jones' was hanging off!

That gif is just wrong... i remember watching the fight and seeing it in the cage - that was bad, the gif is pure evil.

Not sure I want to look it up now. Talking of injuries I know it was slightly different but the Kimbo - Dada fight reminded me of it. Do you remember Brandon Lee Hinkle against Sean Gannon? That was brutal.
