Uncle Dana doesn't mess around when he's pissed.

I don't think Dana would be able to use his own refs

It would raise some questions though, such as whether results could be trusted when the decision maker is directly answerable to the owner

It's a good thing he was talking about judges then...

Although regardless, UFC own judges would probably cause more problems. Imagine if 3 judges hand picked by Dana made the same decision! Everybody would be fuming and saying Dana is protecting his biggest draw.

The first thing that needs looking at is the scoring system. Joe Rogan sums it up perfectly..

The UFC scoring is very flawed. It's flawed in a bunch of different ways. The biggest reason it's flawed is because of the 10-Point Must system which was adopted from boxing. That might work in a 12-round fight. 12, three minute rounds is very different than three, five minute rounds. Three, five minute rounds, you're going 10-9 on rounds that either guy could win and then the next round a guy could get taken down, busted up, dropped, and you score that a 10-9 as well. That makes no f***ing sense. The system in place right now, the scoring system, is from boxing and they need to develop one just for MMA.

It wasn't really that much of a robbery though was it. All 3 judges and pretty much everyone watching agreed on rounds 2,3,4,5 so it only comes down to the first round. Which was very close, and most of the stats back up GSP getting that round.

We could argue the scoring should be different all day, but the reality is, if it were different then GSP would also alter his gameplan and fight accordingly. Big Rig only has himself to blame, if he had come out swinging and really put the pressure on in the 5th then he could have taken it, but instead he coasted and had to watch as the belt he claimed he wanted so badly was wrapped around the waist of the guy who did come out fighting in that final round.

GSP made a mistake when pushed by Rogan in coming out which his semi-retirement thing. But Dana has acted like a child ever since. Saying GSP owes people this and that. GSP worked hard for what he achieved in MMA and no doubt the UFC made a lot more money than he did out that hard work. Dana wants to be careful as if GSP is really having blackouts like he claims then it could attract the wrong kind of publicity to MMA over brain trauma, a subject which is already gathering pace.

I was also gutted about the Sonnen fight. I didn't give him much hope anyway, but I at least thought he'd put up more of a fight than that. He's just not big enough for that division.
