Rooney to Man Utd saddended me, but I wasnt shocked.
I am too young to remember Alan Ball playing for us,
Lineker to Barcelona was a bad one, but I wasnt exactly shocked and we more than doubled our money!
Ferguson to Newcastle wasnt that much of a surprise and as much as I loved him, he was injured a lot, so at the time I just hoped we would sign someone who could play more than 15 games a season.
Arteta to Arsenal wasnt a shock (under Moyes we tended to sell on deadline day) and I thought we got good money for him and he seemed to be getting worse for us, less mobile and poorer delivery from set pieces.
Gravesen going to Real Madrid was a massive shock, just because he was no where near that level as a player.
Gary Speed was probably the saddest, but these days it is in the media so much before hand with teams supposedly offering to double his wages, its rarely a shock when a player finally makes that move. I have since read that effectively the club had to sell him to pay off debts, but made out that it was him who angled for a move, so that the fans didnt kick off. Makes it even more sad.
