Not really... It wasn't a rumour, it was an attempt at a joke, and HE had to explain it...

He replied THREE TIMES to his own post because nobody cared, to explain a joke, that wasn't funny, and wasn't a real rumour...

That means he failed.

Maybe he's funny normally, but in this instance, it was just a bit cringey
