I agree, Donovan been and gone got to look at younger options and as much as i rate Lescott as a player and if he was available at £5m he would be a good addition id like us to look at a younger centre backl to play along side Jags.

Don't agree Donovan is too old, but that's why Sinclair signed too. Lescott same IMO as defenders go to mid 30's.

Would love vermalan over lescott if rumours are true about him like.

I wouldnt be totally against a Lescott return, at 30 he still has three or four years in him and time enough for John Stones to progress into the player that a lot of people at the club think he can be.

Now I would also love Vermalan, Donavan been and gone now, we need a young pacy skiful player on the right

I do see you point with Donovan but on a free, not to be sniffed at IMO. Even if (which it hasn't) his pace had tailed off, he's still a very creative player. He's a player for now tho for sure. As long as there is a younger option in the squad also I don't see a problem. Players career's don't end at 30.

Its just that Donavan belongs in the old team with Mikel and Tim for me.

big clue from Martinez in saying he likes players who know how to adapt where they play and how they play. can't see Jelavic getting a look in and would assume we will see a couple of attack minded players who can play up front or drop back into midfield. Mirallas fits his model perfectly so maybe another gem along this line rather than an out and out goal scorer will be coming in.

I personally think jelavic's days are numbered.

Yeah I recken that will be Martinez challenge this season, to find us a striker, we cant rely on Jelevic incase he had another season like the last one.

If you guys hate Heitinga that much Vermaelen is a no-goer. Both suffer from the Dutch Defender syndrome - following the AMC and leaving a 3v3 at back. Whether their name is Heitinga, Vermaelen, Alderweireld or Vertonghen, they need to be given the licence to roam forward, and assurance from the back. We tend to play with both DCs back and with full backs sweeping up, so its always risky for a Dutch Defender to come in.

*I know that three of them are Belgians, but they are from Flanders and started their careers in Dutch clubs. And they have the same problem of abandoning their line when defending.

did feel a bit to me like it was the introduction of Mirallas that started Jelavic moaning rather than playing. can't see them in the same team in the long term but hope I am wrong cos Jela from 2011/ 12 would do us

don't think its his style of play that has turned people against him, its his attitude and almost lethargy at times.

I'll give him benefit of doubt and assume that he has been increasingly confused about his role. Lets see if Martinez would sort this out.

Martinez has said he likes players with the intelligence to adapt and know how to play in different ways. confusion seems to be something he won't tolerate. I wasn't a huge fan though even when he was playing well, so maybe not a good judge
