seems di maria to united is pretty much done. great signing, but what the hell are they going to play?

van persie, rooney, mata and di maria are their 4 best players, what do you play? 5 strikers - 3 attacking mids behind the two strikers? mata needs to be in behind the striker(s) not on the wing.

And who is going to defend, surely they needed a defensive midfielder before they needed another attacking midfielder/winger?

think that's what herrera was bought for, but i'm not too sure what that guy actually does.

they need defenders badly.

Haven't seen much of Herrera myself other than preseason but LVG apparently sees his best role as a number 10. He's out with an injury until mid Sept so the only fit midfielders are fletcher and Cleverly unless they move Rooney/Kagawa back.

Saw a comment on Redcafe along the lines of " let's just do a straight swap Welbeck for McCarthy, would be perfect deal for both clubs". I'm one of the few who actually like Welbeck as a striker but at this point I wouldn't swap Rooney for McCarthy let alone Welbeck.

Wellbeck is available for around £15m ......... that's a frightening thought with EFC presumably looking for a striker after yesterday
