should a billionaire investor buy everton and have us competing with manchester city and chelsea at the top end of the transfer market, i wonder how the rest of football would see it.

chelsea before roman won just one championship in 1955.

city, are just city. they have won the league just twice in '37 and '68.

so it is natural that most people are unhappy at these teams suddenly turning in to genuine contenders.

but everton? a history that is the 4th best in the league with 9 titles. pre and post war.

would we receive similar damnation from english and global followers, or would it sit a little prettier as we are one of the traditional big hitters in the game?

People see us a mid table team punching above our weight, it'd be no different to Blackpool being taken over in some people's eyes.

It would sit prettier with us as we burst into numerous verses of If you know your history from the massed choirs of Goodison.

I suspect that any other team and its supporters would look at it the same way as we look at Chelski and romans millions and now Shitteh with the Abu Dab fortune - a touch of jealousy perhaps - but more along the lines of your [Poor language removed] and always will be and only got succcess by buying it:D

JAMMY BAST*$DS

It would be nice to have the option to get onto the level playing field again only then will it be back to a test of skill, tactics, man mangement etc.....

I reckon, unlike Abramovich or ADUC, if/when we finally find ourselves some financial clout, it won't be anywhere near the same level.

A few 10m+ players here and there, not blank-cheques or summers spending 90% of all the transfer fees in the country.

It'll hopefully be more like Lerner down at Villa than any of the other publicity-hungry, overly rich lot like Roman, Thaksin or the new Arabs.

Im sure our freinds across the park would be delighted for us,The fat waiter could be quated as saying Everton are now a massive club, who I have always admired.

There is great sympathy and admiration for this football club up and down the country. We have a large stock of goodwill as a proper football club that competes and is successful over the course of our history, not just in a couple of decades - a la Newcastle and Man City. It'd go down way better if we touched for some cash.
