The 'still alive' thread.

Remember watching him playing in a Central League game lighting up a cigarette leaning on one of the posts while the ball was up the Park End. Real character.

….brilliant story. I think Albert Dunlop had a bit of a troubled life after he stopped playing.

I’d think him and Andy Rankin are the only two local lads brought through as Goalkeepers during my time watching Everton, amazing that.

My cousin lived off City Rd and my married older sister lived in Tuebrook so I spent a fair amount of time around both places. Andy Rankin's Mum lived in Walton and my Auntie was friendly with her and a lot of the younger players lived in digs in a house in Tuebrook so we got to chat with Jimmy Husband quite often,he was a really nice lad and he'd get the bus to Goodison on the days the team would train on the old cinder pitch that used to be behind the the Park End stand. Getting autographs was easy as all the players were accessable. Now they are mostly seen through the windscreen of a supercar.

…I know folk who work at Finch Farm and they say the players today live in a bubble, far from the real world. Their are exceptions, Jordan Pickford thought really well of as a grounded bloke and from a bit further back, Leon Osman very popular with the staff.

Does Geoff Barnett count, born Northwich came through the youth team but only made about 10 appearances/

Sitting here drinking my coffee, watching TV and an ad comes on for the upcoming tour of Englebert Humperdinck. I thought I'd got it wrong, checked online and yes, at the age of 89 not only is he alive and kicking but he's also doing a world tour.

Thats old for a world tour. Speaking of which the fam went to see Randy Travis in concert a couple of years ago - only to find on the night that someone else was performing all his songs while Randy (stroke victim some years ago)sat in an armchair on the stage. He sang one word at the end of one song "Amen!" does that count as still performing? btw what a rip off.
