The state of some of our fans

Its easy telling people what they should have done when you're not in that situation. The lad was probably intimidated and had all sorts of repercussions going on in his head if he would have spoke up or told someone. its easy to slate someone and tell them what they should have done when your not there.. i would bet my house that the majority of people ****ging this lad off wouldnt have said a word.

i understand that. i sympathize, it was probably a terrible experience having to endure an entire match next to this asshole.
but sitting around and doing nothing about it does absolutely nothing. its a disservice to the club and to yourself if you really do find it so deplorable.
quietly go and report to the stewards at HT or FT so the fact that it was you getting him ejected remains anonymous.
Ask his name, take a picture, and report after the game.
Lots of ways to do it- but to not do a thing about it other than to complain about 'the state of our fans' only worsens the situation.

Sat next to some ginger mutant and his mate in the away end tonight, proceeded to abuse Naismith all night and kept shouting "black ****" at lukuka everytime he made even the slightest mistake... Proper audible as well.

Spent the entire game cringing, didn't want to say anything either as he looked like a complete nutcase.

It is difficult reporting people at an away game, but you can still report him to Everton. Write to the club giving his seat number and what they said.

Certainly not as simple as that.

I've got to agree. It sounds like a nasty experience, and I don't envy the guy's dilemma, but things will never change if we do nothing. I'd report it to the club now.

There would have been a lot of other people sat around them who heard what they were saying and i'm guessing noone said a word. thats the the majority and that is what most people would say/do, nothing.

And that's what makes it so tough to report the mentally deranged racist idiot. I understand. But if you don't want to have these mongrels in the crowd racially abusing our players, throwing insults at those in blue on the field, making everyone feel uncomfortable to the degree that adults at the game feel too intimidated to act like normal human beings. Well then that's wrong. and yes its easy for me to say it here behind the keyboard. if i was in this gentleman's shoes it would not be easy. it would be difficult as hell. but I'd find the safest way to do it.
If he knows the seat number of this guy or any way to identify him he should report him to the club.

It's certainly easier said than done but herein lies the problem, how the [Poor language removed] are we going to tackle any of these issues if everyone is doing that stupid British thing of complaining about something and doing absolutely naff all about it?

Get a good description of the lads, memorise everything they said and when the crowd has filtered out go to a steward or a police officer and have a quick word. Who knows? Two hours later two blokes matching your description could be caught on CCTV in the town centre battering a Chinese lad, regardless of what can be done any intel like that is useful and can help in getting convictions. It's not like you'll be pointing directly at them in plain view screaming for a police officer.

Scummy, bigoted tossers like these at the match can get away with anything because nobody does a thing about it, it's f*cking sad really.

Getting the bus in to town one night and one of a group of lads racially abused two Indian blokes who were sitting at the front, once we'd got off at Queens Square I collared the lad responsible and gave him a stern b*llocking, could've been on the end of good chinning but it's what needed to be done, you can't just turn a blind eye on stuff like this hoping somebody else will sort it out, it's not on.

We are arguing two different points here. I agree they should be reported but what i am saying is the people having ago at the lad on here for not saying anything probably would't have said anything themselves like the hundreds of other fans sat around them.

Post titled 'The state of some of our fans'

You didn't report him? How do you feel comfortable coming onto the forum and reporting it here as if that makes a difference?
Proper decent Evertonians have a duty to get rid of awful racists in the stands I feel- go to the steward and get him ejected. Especially if he's seemingly mentally unstable.
Don't sit cringing and do nothing. Although I accept its easier said than done. Does the club, the fans, the players, no benefit not doing a thing about it.

I would not have reported it either. No way would I risk a beating on moral grounds. It was not up to the person to report as each ground has stewards and police. Surely they would have heard the abuse and by rights they should of done something about it. Its a tricky situation and not a nice one but I am with the OP here.

Well that depends doesn't it? How far away were the stewards/police? Something tells me that you wouldn't racially abuse someone when there's a copper in full uniform standing right in front of you, even these tossers don't sound that stupid. And even if they were close why in the f*cking hell didn't somebody just grab one and say "those d*ckheads up there are racially abusing someone"?. A few pissheads would've come out second best against a few thousand fans and a group of trained officers me thinks.

Can't be passing the buck straight to officials here, everyone should have played their part in getting them arrested and kicked out of the ground.

There appears to be an attempt at shooting the messenger here, lets not lose sight of the fact that the real issue is that we've seemingly unfortunately still got an element of brainless, racist ****wits amongst our number.

My advice would be that if heard at a home game report the offenders seat number to the club after the game & they can then focus on the individual concerned at the next match. Those advocating fronting them up or making an obvious report to a steward on the day aren't living in the real world here.

My suggestion would be to take some face paint and 'black up', then make a noise that brings you to the racists attention and ask what the problem is. Obviously this could backfire and you're then just a man that's taken a kick in whilst wearing face paint, or it could shame him into sitting down and shutting up.

Report back.

I agree. If he started with this from kick off, I would've waited till half time and reported it to a copper away from the seating area concerned. They have the camera technology now to pinpoint these morons up in the Police Command Box. Its up to the copper then to take the complaint forward and hes duty bound to, given the racism involved. Theres no need for one person to act the vigilante (though Id have been tempted to tell him to f***ing pack it in to be honest having been involved in something similar a few seasons ago)
