The Squad

Totally agree on defence and midfield.

Koeman said he wants 3 keepers...so I was expecting a top one to come in already rather than stek who ive always said isn't very good.

For the u21 that's true, for me though I was just thinking about who we would have in a 25 as I don't think we can bend too much on players if we want to put down high wages for current players and new signings
Not sure what you mean mate. We can have as many home grown under 21s as we want in addition to the named squad of 25. So the likes of Davies Holgate Lookman DCL are all in addition to the 25 man squad.

1. Pickford
2. Robles
3. Stekelenberg
4. Coleman
5. Schneiderlin
6. Gueye
7. Bolasie
8. Michy Batshuayi
9. Williams
10. Jagielka
11. Dries Mertens
12. Juan Mata
13. Besic
14. McCarthy
15. Baines
16. Barry
17. Mirallas
18. Bernardo Silva
19. Mori
20. Galloway
21. Van Dijk
22. Michael Keane
23. Kolasnic
24. Belotti
25. Lacazette

Tom Davies, Lookman, Calvert Lewin, Pennington, Holgate, Hewelt, Dowell, Kenny are all under 21 - they therefore do not need to be registered to play in the prem

Barkley and Lukaku will be sold as they wont sign new contracts

Good thread Zat.

I'm really hoping Everton can see the simple logic like you do and make some decent signings in the next window.

There's loads of players out there. Some would love a go at playing for Everton, we just need the club to find them and get them in the blue shirt.

Nice. :)

What I mean is that even though theyre not required to be registered I see them (in my own mind) as members of the squad. I think if we look at the squad and get to 25 squad players + then add in these kids were going to have an enormous squad which is unnecessary.

I think we need 2 teams really and if the kids are included in those teams we should count them as a number within the squad....Mourinho always focuses on 22-25players playing for an entire season...keeps things stable and spreads playing time around a bit. With a large squad I think we will also struggle on the wages.

Lets say we had a team of starters and then a team of u21s I think it would be ideal as we could pay the 1st choices very well and also have high quality u21s rotating with them in/out of the side....of course it wont work like that in principle but its something ive been thinking about

Scenario I gave was a squad of 28 which included Barry & Jags who would be running down their old legs for one final season whilst the younger lads gsin more experience. Also features 2 players that wont play until 2018 due to injury. Think salaries wont be too excessive due to number of younger players in squad.

All the hangers on will have bee culled too so the squad will actually be more streamlined too.

GK -- New player / Robles
RB -- Holgate / Kenny / Connolly
CB -- New Player / Jagielka
CB -- New Player / Williams
LB -- Baines / New player / Galloway
DM --Schneiderlin / New Player / Barry
CM -- Davies / Besic
CM -- Gueye
LF -- New player / Mirallas
CF -- Lukaku / New player / Calvert-Lewin
RF -- Barkley / Lookman

OUT
Stekelenburg
Pennington
Mori
McCarthy

4 starters in and 3 top u21 players signed.

I think if we lost Lukaku and Barkley then we should be aiming for superstar u21 players and also the odd sprinkle of top quality we can bring in. Dortmund and Monaco have done this to great effect.

am I the only one who hopes tarashaj is given a chance next season?

I heard really great things about him when he was announced. However, seems hes totally nosedived and so I cant see him being around as hes not getting games on loan and if koeman wanted to take a look at him he would have been brought back like Galloway.

So, ive dumped him in the outs list

FM or FIFA time but ok...

I consider the following players are in the first team squad.

Goalkeeper: Robles, Stekelenburg

Right-back: Coleman, Holgate

Centre-back: Williams, Jagielka, Funes Mori

Left-back: Baines

Holding midfielder: Schneiderlin, Barry

Defensive midfielder: McCarthy, Gana, Besic

Central midfielder: Davies

Attacking midfielder: Barkley

Winger: Mirallas, Bolasie, Lookman

Striker: Lukaku, Calvert-Lewin

Loan out: Tarashaj, Browning, Dowell, Galloway, Pennington (shall loan out these players to get regular first team football in the Championship or even setup deals with option to buy). They can be recalled at anytime in the season.

Getting rid of:
Deulofeu (off to Milan or Barcelona for around £12m)
Kone (contract expired in June...released)
Lennon (£4m to a lower mid-table PL club)
Cleverley (deal is done to Watford for £8m)
Valencia (loan is coming to an end; will return to West Ham as Everton not taking up the option to buy)
Niasse (hopefully Hull will take up the option to buy for around £10m)
Garbutt (Championship club may buy him for a small fee)
Grant (a deal to Doncaster is done apparently)
McAleny (contract expired in June...released)
Rodriguez (just give him away for free and get him off the wage bill...no one will pay a fee for him)
McGeady (hopefully to Preston for £1/2m)

Summary:
Williams will stay definiately. Jagielka and Barry to give us one more year as experienced back-up. I am hoping Barkley will decide to stay and sign a new long term contract. If not, his fee shall let Koeman signs a good replacement from the foreign league. It seems like Lukaku is leaving in the summer...likewise his fee shall let Koeman signs two strikers with good reputation. Providing both Ross and Rom are still staying with Everton in September, Everton still need to acquire the following:

1. A first choice goalie
2. A first choice centre-back
3. A left-back who provides competition with Baines and shall be his long term replacement in one or two years time. Can be an utility man.
4. A first choice playmaker/attacking midfielder/winger who shares the creativity duty with Barkley.
5. A striker. If Lukaku stays, we need a good enough squad player who provides competition and shares the workload with Lukaku. If Lukaku is gone his fee will let Koeman buys two strikers who are both good enough to lead the frontline.

Puts a bet on for the 2020 World Club Championship.
