The Spurs situation and Everton

One of the big things that strikes me is the importance of character in recruitment- something that luckily Thelwell and now Moyes and the committee seem to take strongly into account.

We haven’t always recruited brilliant players but we have brought in strong characters with good attitudes and the strength of the dressing room carried us through difficult times.

Spurs don’t appear to have that and it’s also noticeable that Leicester barely have any points since getting docked in the Championship- we maybe took it for granted how well our squad and our club responded to our own deduction but the “galvanising effect” isn’t a given.

That for me is a big lesson to learn- going forward we can probably afford better players but we shouldn’t compromise on character to bring in talent- the signings of Grealish and KDH show you can get both.

Itl's one season mate. We could easily sink back again. Probably the reason Moyes is safe as houses for next season at least.
I agree Dave. There is definitely still a risk of falling into relegation battles again next season and there has been signs of that relegation form at times this season particularly at home were we recently had 1 win in 3 months. Moyes has the experience to ensure that doesn't happen again. There hasn't been anywhere near enough building gone on yet, It is going to take time and a few windows to do that. Not sure if that means that Moyes is safe for another season but there is definitely a risk in taking things for granted. It has been 1 season out of the last 4.

Not that i want him for another season mind but i can see the reasoning in being cautious. It has been nice having a season with no relegation fears and even an outside chance of qualifying for Europe. Definitely not the time to get cocky though.

As for Spurs i would laugh my head off if they went down after all the crap we have been through. Nobody pitied us, they just laughed at us.

Feel like these lot spend £200m every season and get no better, if they go down it's because they deserve to!

If you went on social media even a week or so ago they were talking about signing Ndiaye in the summer and how they should rebuild in the summer; they were in cuckoo land - I think the penny has started to drop for many now.

I'd be in for Kudus and Tel if they went down.

When we were in trouble Goodison became a bear pit. And the fans got behind the team.
I ve supported Everton, since the days of Ball, Harvey and Kendall and didn't want my team playing in the Championship. Quite emotional to think how close we came.
2-0 down to Palace at half time, before the comeback and the Doucoure goal, that kept us up.
It was interesting to hear that half the stadium went home last-night. "Spirit of the Blues" is stronger!

Clear difference in the fanbase....

When we were in peril we came together and created an atmosphere that made it impossible for the players to let us down....

Their lot are leaving at half time.....

Barring local rivalries them and Newcastle are the teams I like to see struggle most....

Years of being held back because players preferred a safe move to London or a couple more quid in the bank seeing us miss out on targets that could have seen us push on made me pretty bitter towards them...

Would love to see them go down
Its match week 29, we lost 1-0 at home to Wolves and 2-1 to West Ham a couple of weeks later

We have a lot of moaners, much negativity in our fanbase, especially in places like these, but...
When we were in a similar mess recently MANY EVERTONIANS stood up, the fans took to the streets, directors did not turn up, the blue flares smoked the streets out, we even help dogs aloft! All that DID help.
What are Spurs fans doing?
Spurs fans have the big 6 mentality, similar to the RS fans who think they have been hard done by if they don't win one of the big 2 trophies. Very entitled fan bases.
